  • Patent number: 6506385
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and pharmaceutical formulations for administering vaccines to birds. In preferred embodiments, the invention provides methods of administering live pathogenic virus vaccines to birds in ovo, more preferably, during the last quarter of in ovo incubation. Interferon, more preferably, Type I interferon, may be advantageously administered in conjunction with live virus vaccines to decrease the pathogenicity thereof. Interferon must be provided at doses sufficient to protect against pathogenicity of the live vaccine, but not at doses so high as to prevent the host from mounting an active immune response. Further provided are pharmaceutical formulations comprising effective doses of live vaccine and interferon. Finally, the present invention provides methods of administering interferon together with live vaccines to young avians to effectively overcome the interfering effects of maternal antibodies.

  • Patent number: 6173941
Abstract: A mobile vehicle service trailer provides a portable maintenance facility for motor vehicles (passenger cars, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, etc.) without need to transport the vehicle to a maintenance facility at a fixed location. The present trailer has rearwardly disposed wheels and laterally extendible ramps, enabling the trailer to be positioned laterally at the front or rear of the vehicle needing service and the vehicle to be positioned laterally across the trailer. This configuration provides for ease of loading and unloading the vehicle to and from the trailer in cramped parking situations, such as parking lots and garages, etc. The rear wheels of the trailer are pivotally mounted, allowing the trailer body to be lowered to the underlying surface for placement of a vehicle thereon.

  • Patent number: 6102370
Abstract: A trailer with expandable sides and retractable wheels used for performing on site vehicle maintenance and repair services. The trailer has a rectangular frame mounted on wheels with a conventional trailer coupler for attachment to a towing vehicle. The wheels are pivotally mounted to the frame, the wheels being locked in a ground engaging position for towing the trailer, and being unlocked so that the frame may be lowered into a ground engaging position by a plurality of hydraulic cylinders for the servicing of vehicles. The frame includes a plurality of crossbeams. A pair of side extenders telescope into the front, rear and center crossbeams so that the width of the trailer may be extended by hydraulic cylinders with the frame in a ground engaging position. The trailer includes a two-post hydraulic vehicle lift for raising the vehicle to be serviced.

  • Patent number: 5468155
Abstract: An accessory for shield termination of a shielded cable having a shielding braid surrounding a plurality of insulated conductors coupled to a connector includes a generally L-shaped bracket having a generally U-shaped portion with integrally formed first and second fingers extending therefrom. A clamping bar secures the shielding braid to the U-shaped portion of said bracket, and fasteners secure an integral flange on the connector to each of the fingers to provide a conductive path between the braid and the connector.

  • Patent number: 5342612
Abstract: A therapeutic composition which contains a potentiating or safening amount of an aqueous surfactant in combination with a bactericidal agent and/or a biological response modifier is described herein. The disclosure further describes an improved method for treating mastitis by administering the composition to an afflicted mammal. Additionally, the disclosure describes a method for screening suitable formulations for treating infectious diseases.

  • Patent number: 4102603
Abstract: A design technique, method and apparatus for containing failure of the rotors of axial flow fluid machines. A rotor disk is constructed of at least three disk sections. Each disk section is shaped such that the loading on that section will be distributed in an optimum manner from the rim to the hub of the disk. To prevent crack propagation from one disk section to another, and to minimize structural weaknesses in the disk sections, the live disk sections are bolted together in a single bolt circle. In order to reduce overall disk weight while maintaining a maximum level of failure containment, the inner disc sections are made thicker than the outer disk sections. Embodiments for the fan, compressor and turbine rotor sections of a gas turbine engine are disclosed.
