  • Patent number: 10225736
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing an authentication procedure in a wireless communication system is provided. A mobile equipment, which runs a plurality of applications, detects that a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of the mobile equipment is in a first status, in which the UICC is able to answer a request, or a second status, in which the UICC is not able to answer a request. If detected, the mobile equipment stores a first set of authentication credentials in the UICC and a second set of authentication credentials in the mobile equipment, and performs the authentication procedure by using one of the first set of authentication credentials for the first status or the second set of authentication credentials for the second status.

  • Patent number: 9578452
Abstract: A method and mobile terminal for communicating with a smart card. The method includes transmitting, to the smart card, terminal profile information; receiving, from the smart card, a geographical location request for acquiring a current geographical location based on the terminal profile information; and transmitting, to the smart card, a terminal response indicating whether the geographical location request has been successfully processed. The mobile terminal processes only one of multiple geographical location requests based on a receiving order, when the multiple geographical location requests are received from the smart card.

  • Patent number: 8867988
Abstract: Contactless services, applications, and/or transactions can be performed between a mobile terminal and a contactless reader even when the mobile terminal battery power is found to be insufficient or if there is some other problem with the battery. Current is induced from electromagnetic (EM) fields or radio frequency (RF) signals detected near the mobile terminal such that sufficient power can be momentarily and/or temporarily used to access information from a smart card or other components within the mobile terminal, and allow user interaction via the contactless reader.
