  • Publication number: 20100248783
Abstract: A mobile terminal and method for providing terminal related information in a power-off state of the terminal are discussed. According to an embodiment, the mobile terminal includes at least one storage unit; and a contactless controller configured to receive a request for information related to the mobile terminal from a requesting device in the power-off state, to obtain the requested information from the storage unit in the power-off state, and to transmit the obtained information to the requesting device in the power-off state.

  • Publication number: 20100167754
Abstract: A method and device for providing location information to a smart card, are discussed. According to an embodiment, the invention provides a mobile terminal for communicating with a smart card and a location device associated with the mobile terminal, the mobile terminal comprising: a controller configured to provide terminal profile information to the smart card, to receive a geographical location request from the smart card based on the terminal profile information, to send a terminal response to the smart card in response to the geographical location request, to obtain location information of the mobile terminal from the location device in response to the geographical location request, and to sending an envelope signal including the obtained location information to the smart card.

  • Publication number: 20100084465
Abstract: Certain existing commands, such as USAT/SAT/CAT commands, are modified to allow management of various types of contactless applications to be performed. Such commands are exchanged via a communication bus between a secure element and a contactless function (CLF) module to support a contactless service. The secure element may be a type of smart card and the external device may be an access gateway for transportation, a point-of-sale (PoS) terminal, or some other application for the user.

  • Publication number: 20100029202
Abstract: Contactless services, applications, and/or transactions can be performed between a mobile terminal and a contactless reader even when the mobile terminal battery power is found to be insufficient or if there is some other problem with the battery. Current is induced from electromagnetic (EM) fields or radio frequency (RF) signals detected near the mobile terminal such that sufficient power can be momentarily and/or temporarily used to access information from a smart card or other components within the mobile terminal, and allow user interaction via the contactless reader.

  • Publication number: 20100019033
Abstract: In a mobile terminal, a contactless interface is defined between a secure element and a contactless function (CLF) module, which allows a contactless service to be performed with an external device. The secure element may be a type of smart card and the external device may be an access gateway for transportation, a point-of-sale (PoS) terminal, or some other application for the user.

  • Patent number: 7641123
Abstract: An integrated circuit card includes a plurality of electrical contacts; and a memory to store information, the memory being allowed to communicate with a processor via the plurality of electrical contacts. One set of electrical contacts are allowed to be allocated by the processor to support an operation in at least one mode depending on a presence of a certain protocol mode detected by the processor. The integrated circuit card is operable in various modes including both contactless and high speed protocols, a contactless only without the high speed protocol and the high speed protocol only without the contactless protocol.

  • Publication number: 20070210174
Abstract: The present invention provides a solution for supporting both the MMC and USB protocol modes to provide enhanced services and applications in a UICC. The UICC, methods and the terminal for dynamically selecting a protocol on the UICC card are disclosed. The invention provides that at least MMC and USB can be operated in the UICC without multiplexing or implementing a heavy procedure in the terminal. With the present invention, the UICC can be used in any host implementing either USB or MMC without having to add any new negotiation phase.
