Abstract: The present invention concerns a food or pet food product containing up to 50% gel capsules or tablets based on alginate, pectate or a mixture of both and comprising oil, vitamins, amino-acids, proteins, minerals, colorants, flavors and/or specifically targeted functional ingredients such as probiotic microorganisms, bioactive molecules, said food product being taken in the group consisting of chilled, dried retorted and UHT-products.

Abstract: A pet food composition containing chunks and a clear gellified sauce or base, said composition being obtainable by: i) incorporating at least one semi-refined gelling agent and/or semi-refined gelling biopolymer blend, in a mixture comprising meat and meat by-products, said mixture being used for the manufacture of the chunks; ii) mixing the manufactured chunks with a sauce or base containing no gelling agent; and iii) treating the mixture under conditions to release the pure gelling agent molecules from the chunks into the sauce or base to gelify it and to achieve chunk structure.

In an embodiment, a chewable product that enhances dental hygiene in a pet is provided comprising a body having a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase in such a proportion so that the force required to penetrate the product is greater than an anticipated bite force exerted by the pet during a normal biting event, and below the maximum force that the pet may periodically exert.

Abstract: A food gel composition is obtained by preparing an aqueous sol of lactoserum proteins and a polysaccharide so that, by weight based upon the sol weight, the lactoserum proteins are in an amount of from 5% to 15% and so that the polysaccharide is in an amount of from 0.05% to 0.25%, and then the sol is subjected to a hydrostatic pressure of from 200 MPa to 800 MPa for from 1 minute to 20 minutes.
