  • Publication number: 20110173687
Abstract: The present invention relates to provisioning of IMS parameters in an automated fashion. This is according to the present invention achieved by introducing a provisioning server providing an application, to be used on a user terminal, IMS parameters such that the application on the user terminal can utilize IMS services even if the user terminal is non-IMS capable or if the operator of the user has not deployed IMS. The provisioning of the IMS parameters may be triggered by a downloading of said application on the user terminal. Further, the application on the user terminal is configured with an address to the provisioning server in order to be able to send the request to the provisioning server.

  • Publication number: 20110153728
Abstract: Polling performed by multiple applications running on a device is coordinated. A central scheduling function can, for example, periodically issue polling event messages to the applications. The applications can, in turn, request the transmission of polling signals to their respective servers to request application updates. By coordinating transmission of polling signals battery consumption and network communication resources can be optimized.

  • Patent number: 7961752
Abstract: A method of controlling access in a telecommunication network in which a communication medium, such as a set of frequencies, time slots, or codes, is shared among a plurality of mobile units. Transmissions from the mobile units utilize different access modes, such as a direct access mode and a scheduled access mode. Additionally, the transmissions are divided into different communication types, each having an associated priority. A mode access control unit determines for each priority, which access mode to utilize for the associated communication type. Mobile units having data to transmit access the shared communication medium utilizing the access mode determined for the priority of the communication type to which the data belongs.

  • Publication number: 20110035495
Abstract: A method for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network is proposed. The packet bearer (PB) transmits the data packet to a communication entity in the communication network. The communication network comprises at least one control entity to exchange signaling information with the user equipment. The user equipment comprises at least one executing unit for executing one or more applications which create the data packet, a packet marking entity for marking at least one control field in the data packet and a transmission unit for sending the data packet on the packet bearer. After setting up the packet bearer between the transmission unit and the communication entity, a first signaling of filter parameters for defining a packet filter is received by the user equipment. The filter parameters correspond to a packet marking.

  • Publication number: 20100198975
Abstract: A method, a session managing node and an arrangement for providing a network-service address of at least one network-service of an IMS network (401) of a first operator to a third party service provider (403), wherein the third party service provider has no business agreement with the first operator. A first application (404) of a mobile station is communicating with a second application (405) via a first network (406), resulting in the set-up of an IMS-session, between the mobile station and the third party service provider. A network-service address of at least one network-service, provided by the IMS network of the first operator, is inserted into a SIP message of the IMS-session in a session managing node (600) of the IMS network of the first operator and delivered to the third party service provider, where it is forwarded to the second application. If required, the second application may access the one or more network-services via the first network, using the retrieved network-address.

  • Patent number: 7680478
Abstract: Different types of traffic requiring different inactivity timer settings are assigned to different bearers or to different QoS classes. Different inactivity timer settings are established for different traffic types. Individual bearers or individual QoS classes are linked to a corresponding inactivity timer profile. The link may be accomplished in a number of ways. For example, an additional QoS parameter may be employed in a 3GPP QoS profile, or a new QoS class identifier may be mapped to an inactivity timer setting. Different inactivity timer settings allows both UE battery power conservation to be prioritized for some traffic and end-user experience (quick subsequent response times) to be prioritized for other traffic.

  • Publication number: 20090144359
Abstract: Providing a service in user equipment (UE) that operates within a mobile telecommunications system involves running a client application instance (CAI) in the UE, wherein the CAI interacts with a remotely-located server application via a network by means of a protocol that includes polling. A message is sent to the server application, the message including a PUSH address that uniquely identifies the UE and the CAI within the UE. The server application stops polling activity, and instead initiates a PUSH request when there is updated information to be supplied to the CAI. The UE consequently receives a PUSH that includes the identifier of the CAI, and consequently notifies the CAI of the received PUSH. The CAI responds by sending a polling message to the server application via the network. The server application sends a response to the polling message, the response including information associated with the service.

  • Publication number: 20080020775
Abstract: Method for switching a packet to a bearer in a mobile telecommunication network, by setting up multiple parallel bearers for bearing the packet across a radio interface; associating the bearers with a bearer priority level of traffic handling; determining a priority level of the packet; mapping the packet priority level to the bearer priority level; switching the packet to one of the bearers based on the mapping; using the bearer priority level to prioritise the access to the radio resources. A further method for switching a packet by setting up multiple parallel bearers without resource reservation; associating each of the bearers with a bearer priority level; mapping a flow of packets to one of the bearer priority levels, when a service is started; switching each packet to one of the multiple bearers based on the mapping; using the bearer priority level to prioritise the access to the radio resources.
