  • Patent number: 4740648
Abstract: Linear and/or branched claim C.sub.2 to C.sub.12 olefins are converted to hydrocarbon mixtures suitable for use as liquid motor fuels by contact with a catalyst capable of ensuring the production of desirable products with only a relatively minor amount of heavy products boiling beyond the diesel oil range. The catalyst having desirable stability during continuous production operations, comprises a steam stabilized zeolite Y catalyst of hydrophobic character, desirably in aluminum-extracted form. The olefins such as propylene, may be diluted with inerts, such as paraffins or with water, the latter serving to moderate the acidity of the catalyst, or to further moderate the activity of the aluminum-extracted catalyst, so as to increase the effective life of the catalyst.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 26, 1988
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
Inventors: Jule A. Rabo, Peter K. Coughlin
  • Patent number: 4734185
Abstract: Cracking catalysts and their use in cracking processes are disclosed. The cracking catalyst are prepared using mixtures of catalytic cracking catalysts containing zeolitic aluminosilicates effective in catalytic cracking and selected silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieves of U.S. Pat. No. 4,440,871.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 1985
Date of Patent: March 29, 1988
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
Inventors: Regis J. Pellet, Peter K. Coughlin, Mark T. Staniulis, Gary N. Long, Jule A. Rabo
  • Patent number: 4666875
Abstract: Cracking catalysts containing silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieves are disclosed. Such catalysts are derived from specific silicoaluminophosphate molecular sieves of U.S. Pat. No. 4,440,871. The catalyst when used for the conversion of hydrocarbons provide product mixtures different from those obtained by use of aluminosilicates based catalysts.

    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
Inventors: Regis J. Pellet, Peter K. Coughlin, Mark T. Staniulis, Gary N. Long, Jule A. Rabo
  • Patent number: 4663355
Abstract: The addition of an inert metal component, such as gold, silver or copper, to a Fischer-Tropsch catalyst comprising cobalt enables said catalyst to convert synthesis gas to liquid motor fuels at about 240.degree.-370.degree. C. with advantageously reduced selectivity of said cobalt for methane in said conversion. The catalyst composition can advantageously include a support component, such as a molecular sieve, co-catalyst/support component or a combination of such support components.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 21, 1986
Date of Patent: May 5, 1987
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation

  • Patent number: 4652538
Abstract: Synthesis gas comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen is converted to C.sub.5.sup.+ hydrocarbons suitable for use as liquid motor fuels by contact with a dual catalyst composition capable of ensuring the production of only relatively minor amounts of heavy products boiling beyond the diesel oil range. The catalyst composition, having desirable stability during continuous production operation, employs a Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, together with a co-catalyst/support component. The latter component is a steam-stabilized zeolite Y catalyst of hydrophobic character, desirably in acid-extracted form.

  • Patent number: 4632941
Abstract: The conversion of synthesis gas to liquid molar fuels by means of a cobalt Fischer-Tropsch catalyst composition is enhanced by the addition of molybdenum, tungsten or a combination thereof as an additional component of said composition. The presence of the additive component increases the olefinic content of the hydrocarbon products produced. The catalyst composition can advantageously include a support component, such as a molecular sieve, co-catalyst/support component or a combination of such support components.
