  • Publication number: 20040191750
Abstract: Educational/diversionary apparatus is arranged to present a user with various different scents and data thereon in order to aid scent recognition and enable a user to decide upon a combination of scent types which would be desirable to him/her. The apparatus takes the forms of a kit having a number of different scents and data carrying means, such as a CD Rom, which holds data on the nature, geographical origin and/or source of each of the said scents, wherein the data held on the data carrying means includes a map showing a number of geographical regions and cross- referencing means for cross-referencing each region with an associated scent. The selection of a region by the user can thus result in an associated scent being identified and data on that scent being presented to the user. The data on the carrier preferably comprises a computer program having instructions for causing a computer to display an image of the map and to provide means for selecting an area on the map.

  • Patent number: 6691486
Abstract: A reinforcement includes two parallel walls formed with braces arranged along two orthogonal directions, the walls being spaced apart by tie rods. The structure further includes on at least one of its formwork surfaces a permeable structure for retaining aggregate and allowing excess water of cast concrete to escape. According to the invention, at least one of the parallel walls includes two mutually independent grates, one the grates being associated with the other wall by a first set of tie rods, and the other of the grates being associated with the other wall by a second set of tie rods, independent of the first set. When the grates are displaced in opposite directions along an axis parallel to the plane of the grates, the spacing between the walls is modified.

  • Patent number: 5687522
Abstract: A formwork constructed of prefabricated elements, preferably for building a concrete wall. The formwork has two parallel walls that define a space that is filled with concrete laden with water, sand and large aggregates. An inner wall of the formwork has a lattice or perforated structure to filter and pass water and small aggregates from the space that is filled with concrete. An outer wall also has a lattice or perforated structure to filter additional water and smaller aggregates from the space that is filled with concrete. This invention also includes a concrete heating wall that may be constructed from formwork.

  • Patent number: 5164134
Abstract: Packaging means such as a bottle, jar or other receptacle, having a sealing ring, as well as a process for manufacturing such a seal. These packaging means include containers especially of the type to be kept in stock and/or stored. The packaging means include at least a container and a lid, between which is arranged a sealing ring defining an internal space in relation to the outside of the packaging means, with the packaging means being capable of containing a product or any other substance whatsoever under conditions of vacuum or partial vacuum. The sealing ring includes means for bringing about communication between the internal space and the outside of packaging means, being blocked while the vacuum is being brought about and/or maintained and capable of being unblocked in order to facilitate opening the packaging means.

  • Patent number: 5040344
Abstract: Prefabricated formwork elements for the construction of external walls of buildings comprise at least one pair of panels (1, 2) of heat-insulating material which are intended to be maintained in parallel relation in order to delimit between them a space (3) which is intended to be filled with concrete, each panel (1, 2) being reinforced by horizontal stiffeners (4) and shores (5) being provided for maintaining the two panels in a vertical position and in spaced relation. The shores (5) are removably attached to the horizontal stiffeners (4) of one (2) of the panels, the panels being maintained in spaced relation by connecting the stiffeners (4) of one of the panels to the stiffeners of the other panel.

  • Patent number: 4866840
Abstract: Since the mineral insulation (M) of the cable (C) is sensitive to moisture from which it is protected over the length of the cable by a sheath (G), the bared front length (8) of the cable core (A) is initially connected to a connection length (14) whose insulation (22) is constituted by an organic material which is insensitive to moisture. The prior connection zone is embedded in a block of resin (24) surrounded with its own sheath (26). The desired electrical connection is made to the other end (18) of said connection length inside a non-sealed box. The invention is applicable to transmitting signals even in the event of an accident to a nuclear reactor.

  • Patent number: 4751358
Abstract: A cooking receptacle is provided having a browning coating for microwave ovens, and a method of forming such a coating. Said coating, which is external, includes essentially a heating layer made from leadless enamel in which are incorporated electrically conducting elements in the form of a metal powder, this powder being intimately mixed with the enamel, generally in a proportion of 15 to 40% by weight; a protective layer of leadless enamel advantageously covers the heating layer. The layers are deposited on the external surface of the receptacle by silkscreen printing or by decalcomania or by a transfer method and they are subjected to baking at a temperature between 620.degree. and 800.degree. C. The metal powder is formed from at least one substance chosen from the electrically conducting metals such as zinc and the transition elements, the oxides of these metals, and mixtures of these substances.

  • Patent number: 4640417
Abstract: The invention provides a display packing for glasses and similar articles, which may be folded flat and is formed from a single strip of material. Said strap of material is divided into sections for forming the vertical an horizontal side walls of the frame as well as partition walls the number of which depends on the number of articles disposed in the row, each article in the row being separated from the next one by a partition wall. Locking lugs are engaged in notches of the lower and upper end portions of the vertical partition walls so as to hold the assembly opened out.

  • Patent number: 4577367
Abstract: A device for fitting and locking a handle to the body of a kitchen utensil comprises an end piece formed on the lateral wall of the body of the utensil, and a housing provided in the connecting end of the handle and into which the end piece can be inserted with a loose fit. The locking of the handle to the end piece is effected by a pivoting piece and an associated actuating structure, both mounted in the housing, for causing the pivoting piece to pivot. The upper face of the end piece has a notch, the pivoting piece has an end curved in the shape of a nose for insertion into the notch of the end piece, and the actuating structure for the pivoting piece is adapted selectively to bring the curved end of the latter into or out of the notch so as to lock or unlock the pivoting piece in this position during fitting or removal of the handle. The locking force may be applied via a toggle joint, and an unlocking push button may further be provided to form a safety clamping mechanism.
