Patent number: 9737856Abstract: A vacuum filter device comprising a filter body having two holders on opposite sides of a filter. Each holder contains a closed container in a fluid-tight, sealed relationship. The filter is retained by a compression sealing element and the sealing element is maintained in place by a compression element formed of a ring. The compression element is bonded to a portion of the body to hold it, the sealing element and filter in place under a compression seal. Optionally a port in the compression element is formed to align with the vent of the device. Further, an alignment feature on the compression element ensures the port is in alignment with the vent of the device. The device also includes a vacuum port communicating with the downstream side of the filter, and hence the filtrate container.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2014Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Phillip Clark, John Doyle

Patent number: 9511637Abstract: A removable guiding apparatus, placed on a trailer hitch extension, that will force the tongue of a trailer over the trailer hitch ball. This system is designed such that the positioning components will force the trailer tongue into position over the hitch ball should the tongue and hitch ball be slightly out of alignment during the backing of the vehicle toward the trailer tongue. These positioning components can be easily placed upon and removed from a plate that is permanently attached to the underside of the trailer hitch extension and hitch ball. The ability to remove these positioning components allows for a wide swing of the trailer tongue during towing as well as unobstructed access to the hitch area.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2015Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Inventor: Phillip Clark Frey

Publication number: 20160228870Abstract: Fluid containment pressure vessel that eliminates the outer support housing present in certain conventional vessels, and provides an improved cap-to-body interface. In certain embodiments, the cap is threaded and configured to threadingly engage with the body of the pressure vessel, and has sufficient structural integrity to withstand the pressures in the device without the need for a support housing. In certain embodiments, an interlock mechanism is provided that prevents the cap from being opened (e.g., removed from the body) while the device is under pressure. In certain embodiments, a pressure relief valve is provided with a pre-loaded biasing mechanism to achieve the required pressure release rate. The vessel can be used for sample preparation, including purification or concentration of samples, particularly protein samples.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2016Publication date: August 11, 2016Inventors: Phillip Clark, Kurt Greenizen, John Doyle
