  • Publication number: 20090066440
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for automatically matching the antenna impedance for a radiofrequency transmission circuit having an amplifier. An impedance matching network is inserted between the amplifier and the antenna. The output current i and voltage V from the amplifier and their phase shift are measured, and from this the complex impedance, defined by V/i, is deduced. The antenna impedance is calculated as a function of this complex impedance and as a function of the known present values of the adjustable impedances of the matching network. New values are calculated, from the calculated value of the antenna impedance, for the adjustable impedances of the matching network that allow an overall load impedance of the amplifier to be obtained which is as close as possible to the nominal load impedance Zopt of the amplifier, and the matching network is controlled to adjust the adjustable impedances to these new values.

  • Patent number: 6782799
Abstract: A double-acting hydraulic actuator with an axial locking device has a cylinder chamber defined by two coaxial cylindrical walls of different diameters interconnected by a frustoconical wall. A guide piston sliding in the smaller-diameter cylindrical wall is fixed to an end of an actuator rod. The actuator rod has an annular protuberance of diameter equal to the diameter of the cylindrical wall. An annular stepped piston providing sealing between the two cylinder chambers is slidably mounted in a middle portion of the actuator rod to slide between the piston and the annular protuberance. When the actuator is extended, a narrowed end of the annular piston bears against conical surfaces of two half-rings and urges them outwards. When the half-rings are pushed outwards and the narrowed end of the annular piston becomes interposed between them and the middle portion of the actuator rod.

  • Patent number: 6276126
Abstract: An axially symmetric turbojet-engine exhaust nozzle which is directable as a unit. The exhaust nozzle is situated downstream of an exhaust duct (1) fitted with a spherical wall (5). A single control ring (12) driven by linear actuators (30) allows regulation of the nozzle cross section and direction. Converging flaps (7) are guided on an upstream side by the spherical wall (5) and are supported at a downstream side by a control lever (13) which hinges on the control ring (12) and rests upstream on an external surface (16) of the spherical wall (5). Diverging flaps (10) hinge on the converging flaps (7) to form an inner ring of hot flaps. The diverging flaps (10) are situated downstream in an extension of the converging flaps (7) and further hinge on an outer ring of cold flaps (11), which in turn hinge on the control ring (12).

  • Patent number: 6164563
Abstract: A gas-flow exhaust assembly for a jet propulsion system of an aircraft in which a converging exhaust nozzle (4) is fitted with translating cold flaps (21, 22). The primary exhaust nozzle (4) comprises two hot-flaps (5, 6) situated beyond a primary duct (1) enclosed by an aircraft fairing (2). The fairing (2) is extended by a secondary exhaust nozzle (20) which is supported by the primary duct (1) and which is translatable by a control mechanism (27a, 27b). The secondary exhaust nozzle (20) comprises cold flaps (21, 22) which are driven by another control mechanism (29a, 29b) independently of the angular positions of the hot flaps (5, 6). Preferably, there are two eyelid-shaped cold-flaps (21, 22) hinging and supported on horizontal transverse shafts (23a, 23b). The shafts (23a, 23b) are preferably affixed on two lateral slides (24a, 24b) which slide on the primary duct (1) and are displaceable by the control mechanism (27a, 27b) which translates the secondary exhaust nozzle (20).

  • Patent number: 6054557
Abstract: The invention provides biologically active compounds of the formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is a light-emitting moiety and R.sub.7 is a peptide of between 2 and 200 amino acids. X is selected from the group including .dbd.O, .dbd.S, --OH, .dbd.C.tbd.O, .dbd.NH, --H, --OR, --NR, --R, --R.sub.3 R.sub.4, wherein each R, R.sub.4 and R.sub.3, independently, is H or a C1-C6 branched or unbranched, substituted or unsubstituted, alkyl. The compounds are both biologically active and optically detectable. The peptide is chemically attached to the light-emitting moiety at an amino acid position which is not involved in binding to the peptide's receptor. In this way, the peptide's affinity for its receptor is not significantly decreased, and the compound retains high biological activity and can be easily detected using standard optical means.
