    Abstract: A high-power electro-optic modulator (EOM) is formed to use specialized electrodes of a material selected to have a CTE that matches the CTE of the modulator's crystal. Providing CTE matching reduces the presence of stress-induced birefringence, which is known to cause unwanted modulation of the propagating optical signal. The specialized electrodes are preferably formed of a CuW metal matrix composite having a W/Cu ratio selected to create the matching CTE value. Advantageously, the CuW-based electrodes also exhibit a thermal conductivity about an order of magnitude greater than conventional electrode material (brass, Kovar) and thus provide additional thermal stability to the EOM's performance.

Based on determining that the requested connectivity protocol configuration is not a match to the particular connectivity protocol configuration of the other computing entity, a selected configuration file that is a match to the requested connectivity protocol configuration is selected from a plurality of configuration files. Based on selecting the selected configuration file, routing of the connection request to a connectivity protocol service corresponding to the selected configuration file is initiated to facilitate establishing a connection between the one computing entity and the other computing entity.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for reducing the usage amount of edible fat and oil in a bakery product, the method comprising mixing at least one maltose alpha-amylase and edible fat and oil into dough, and baking same to prepare a bakery product. The usage amount of the edible fat and oil in the dough can be reduced by at least 10 wt % compared with not using the enzyme treatment; and the enzyme may also include cellulase and/or phospholipase. The method does not reduce or substantially reduce the quality of the bakery product, and allows same to have a shelf life of at least 4 days. Also involved is baked fat and oil prepared from the above-mentioned enzyme and edible fat and oil.

    Abstract: High aspect ratio features are formed in a substrate using etching and deposition processes. A partially etched feature is formed by exposure to plasma in a plasma etch chamber. A metal-based liner is subsequently deposited in the partially etched feature using the same plasma etch chamber. The metal-based liner is robust and prevents lateral etch in subsequent etching operations. The metal-based liner may be deposited at temperatures or pressures comparable to temperatures or pressures for etch processes. The metal-based liner may be localized in certain portions of the partially etched feature. Etching proceeds within the feature after deposition without lateral etching in regions where the metal-based liner is deposited.

The disclosure provides an Aspergillus niger engineered strain in which a fum gene is knocked out and a method for greatly reducing byproduct fumaric acid in the fermentation production of Aspergillus niger.
