Abstract: A user interface to match a requested set of media items for display in a media item arrangement requires an efficient method of obtaining properties of the requested media items. The requested media items may span across multiple connected sources and be associated with multiple users. A first cache layer of a multi-layer cache system stores a flat representation of metadata items corresponding to media items available from connected sources. A second cache layer stores compiles metadata items from the first cache layer into sets of metadata items for various media item groupings. A third cache layer compiles sets of metadata items from the second cache layer into ordered sets of metadata items. The ordered sets of metadata items may be used to identify an appropriate media item arrangement in which to display the associated media items.

Abstract: A set of media items may be matched with a media arrangement that displays the media items in the set in a group of frames. The media arrangement may extend across an area larger than a viewable area of a display device. In order to determine the media items that appear within a viewable area, a list of media items may be divided into two portions, one on either side of a middle item in the list. If any part of a frame with which the middle item is associated is within an extended spatial area that extends beyond the viewable area, the middle item may be eliminated from the list, when no part of the frame with which the middle item is associated is within the extended area. The process may be repeated until it is determined that a part of a frame with which the middle item is associated is within the extended area.

Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can be configured to generate a slide show type presentation based on images (e.g., digital photographs, videos, etc.) in a user's media library. While viewing the presentation, the computing device can receive user input to change the display of the images between a slideshow, a single image, and/or a grid view presentation mode. In some implementations, the user can provide input with respect to an image displayed on a slide to manipulate the image. In some implementations, the user can provide continuous input with respect to a slide to cause a transition animation to be displayed according to the amount and direction of user input received. For example, the speed, direction (e.g., forward, backward) and completion of the transition animation can be controlled by the user's input.

Abstract: A wear adjustment device is provided for the adjusting friction surface wear on a brake pad and a brake disc of a disc brake having a brake application device, preferably with a rotary lever. The wear adjustment device can be coupled on the drive side to the brake application device, and on the output side to a spindle unit. A respective rolling body arrangement is axially arranged on both sides of a drive element, one of which is designed as a roller bearing and one is designed as a ball ramp coupling. A central shaft is coupled to the ball ramp coupling and has an output interface for coupling to the spindle unit. A radial freewheel is coupled to the ball ramp coupling by an overload spring unit and to the central shaft. A directionally-dependent torque device is provided, along with a housing in which the drive element, the rolling body arrangements, the overload spring unit, the radial freewheel, the central shaft and the directionally-dependent torque unit are arranged.

The disc brake includes a brake caliper which engages over a brake disc and is in the form of a sliding caliper, two brake pads which are arranged in the caliper, are movable in opposite directions and each have a pad carrier plate and a friction lining fastened thereon and of which an application-side brake pad is pressable against the brake disc by an application device via at least one brake plunger, and with at least one restoring device with which the brake caliper is returnable after a braking-induced displacement and release of the brake. The restoring device is provided with a friction element which is mounted in the brake pad so as to be displaceable to a limited extent under pressure loading in the axial direction of the brake disc and on which an elastic pressure element held in the brake caliper and/or brake plunger acts.

Abstract: A method for optically monitoring an object within a monitoring area includes transmitting light rays with a light transmitting unit that form a line of light on the object. The line of light reflected from the object is imaged on an array of receiving elements that detects the reflected line of light and produces receiving element signals that correspond to measuring points on the object. The receiving element signals are evaluated to structure a distance profile of the object using a triangulation principle. The evaluating includes generating at least one evaluation window which covers in a first direction a local region extending along the line of light and in a second direction a distance range, and using the measuring points located farthest outside within the evaluation window for a left limit point and a right limit point for determining object data.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for automatically generating a slide associated with a slideshow. In one aspect, a method includes selecting an image for inclusion in a slideshow, where the image has associated facial detection information. A face location is determined in the selected image based on the facial detection information and the selected image is cropped based on the determined face location to generate a cropped image depicting the included face. The cropped image is inserted into a slide associated with the slideshow. Further, an animation having a defined animation path can be associated with the slide. Also, the face location can be identified as a position in the animation path and the slide can be animated based on the associated animation.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for concurrently displaying a plurality of media items from different sources, such as different computing devices of a user or social network providers with which the user has an account or with which the user has a social connection to an account. Media items may include digital images, video, text, and executables, or icons thereof. The media items may be analyzed to identify one or more different sets of media items, each set being associated with different criteria. Example criteria include a particular time range, a particular person, and a particular location. Once a set of media items is identified, each media item in the set is assigned to a group based on grouping criteria and displayed based on the group to which the media item belongs.

A wear adjusting device is arranged in the brake caliper and compensates for a wear-related change in the clearance between the brake pad and the brake disc by axially moving the adjusting spindles. A synchronizing device includes a traction drive mechanism which allows the two adjusting spindles to be synchronously rotated. The fraction drive mechanism has a traction mechanism that meshes in a force transmitting manner with drive gears which are effectively connected to the adjusting spindles for conjoint rotation therewith. Each drive gear includes at least one form-fitting element which engages with an outer axial guide of the associated adjusting spindle.

Serving cells may receive measurement information from mobile devices, and may each form reporting sets including measurement information for various cells. A CoMP (coordinated multi-point) control unit may receive the measurement information from each of a number of serving cells. The received measurement information may be aggregated for a population of the mobile devices. Based on the aggregated measurement information, cell clusters may be formed to perform coordinated transmissions, each including a different subset of the cells. An indication of the determined cell clusters may be transmitted to respective cells.
