Abstract: A brassiere comprises an inner layer comprising a front bodice portion and an associated outer layer with breast cups which overlap and sit over the front bodice portion. A front upper edge of the front bodice portion has two curved cut-out portions for close fitting of the upper front edge of the front bodice portion a wearer's breasts in use. A central tongue between the cut-out portions extends upwardly between the breasts, in use. Each breast cup has an inner side and an outer side. The inner side of each breast cup is attached to the tongue of the front bodice portion or to the inner side of the other breast cup. The outer side of each breast cup is attached to an associated side edge of the front bodice portion leaving each breast cup permanently detached from the front bodice portion substantially all along a bottom of the breast cup between the inner side and the outer side of the breast cup.
