  • Publication number: 20170224923
Abstract: A medical injector, including a body with a displaceable plunger, which has at least one set of ratchet teeth, each set having a plurality of spaced-apart ratchet teeth disposed along the length thereof. At least one indexer is formed to engage the plunger. The indexer is configured to allow the plunger to displace distally toward the distal end of the body but not proximally toward the proximal end of the body. An actuator has a rocker pivotally connected thereto, the rocker being of single-piece construction and having an engagement portion formed to engage the ratchet teeth. The indexer and the rocker engage the same set of ratchet teeth. The rocker is pivotally connected at a first portion thereof to the body to rotate about an axis disposed on the body and pivotally connected at a second portion thereof to a link to rotate about an axis disposed on the link.

  • Patent number: 9707353
Abstract: A medical injector is provided herein having a body with a displaceable plunger. The plunger includes a plurality of spaced-apart ratchet teeth disposed along the length thereof. At least one indexer is provided formed to engage the plunger, wherein the indexer is configured to allow the plunger to displace distally towards a distal end of the body but not proximally towards a proximal end of the body. The medical injector also includes an actuator having an engagement portion formed to engage one or more of the ratchet teeth. The actuator is displaceable to a ready state, the engagement portion being displaced proximally relative to the plunger with the actuator being displaced to the ready state. The indexer prevents proximal movement of the plunger thereby allowing the engagement portion to by-pass one or more of the ratchet teeth with the actuator being displaced to the ready state. In addition, the actuator is displaceable from the ready state to cause actuation of the medical injector.

  • Publication number: 20170113003
Abstract: A medical injector is provided herein having a body; a reservoir containing first and second mixable components; a stopper; a plunger disposed in the body; a spring disposed to advance the plunger; a first releasable retainer for releasably retaining the plunger in a first state against force of the spring; a first trigger for causing the first releasable retainer to release the plunger; a second releasable retainer for releasably retaining the plunger in a second state against force of the spring; and, a second trigger for causing the second releasable retainer to release the plunger. The spring causes the plunger to advance so that the stopper traverses at least a predetermined extent of advancement thereby causing mixing of the first and second mixable components. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a medical injector is provided which allows for autoreconstitution with subsequent dose setting and autoplunger activation being activated by separate triggers.

  • Publication number: 20170049958
Abstract: The subject invention provides a drug delivery device for injecting medicament which includes: a tubular reservoir; a stopper slidably disposed in the reservoir; a spring for moving the stopper in the reservoir; at least one needle, the needle having a distal end for insertion into a patient, and a lumen extending proximally from the distal end, the lumen being in direct or indirect communication with the reservoir; a needle driver for displacing the needle; and, an actuator. Activation of the actuator causes the spring to move the stopper and the needle driver to displace the needle. The needle moves relative to, and separately from, the reservoir with the needle being displaced. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a drug delivery device is provided wherein a needle is moved, relative to the reservoir, in being displaced for injection. This permits control of the needle displacement separate from the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 9522231
Abstract: A safety feature for a wearable infusion device is disclosed. The safety feature is configured to prevent accidental activation of the infusion device by protecting the activation button of the infusion device prior to and after the actuation of the activation button. The safety feature includes a wall section that protrudes from the main body of the infusion device in the vicinity of the activation button. A cover device covers the activation button prior to the actuation of the activation button. The cover device slides on the main body of the infusion device. When the cover covers the activation button, movement of the cover is restricted by the protruding wall section adjacent to the activation button, to hold the cover in position over the activation button.
