Abstract: An audio system for managing broadcast and recording music and other audio works includes two principal components, an entertainment programming guide unit and a media manager unit. The programming guide unit, which preferably includes a graphical user interface, can be used to manage a number of recording media in a media deck of the media manager unit. The programming guide may also receive a radio broadcast schedule so that a user can select and record upcoming broadcast works in a memory unit of the media manager unit The programming guide may also download audio files from the internet.

Abstract: An innovative but easy to use on-line guide is provided to provide the user of a multiple channel television broadcast system a wealth of programming information in a simple format that is easy to understand. The guide enables the user to easily select a particular program to watch. In particular, when the guide is presented to the user, the guide covers only a portion of the actual television screen or display. The remaining portion of the television screen continues to broadcast the audio and video of the currently selected program. As a user scans through the guide and moves the pointer from one station to another, the system responds by automatically tuning to the channel pointed to by the pointer and provides the audio and displays the video in the portion of the screen not covered by the guide. Thus, the user can easily get an idea of the broadcast on a particular station without exiting the guide and without expressly selecting a particular channel.

Abstract: A frameless sliding door system for a television cabinet stand having a top board coupled to two vertical guide mounts. The frameless sliding door system has two doors, each door having top and bottom bearing rail mechanism that permits the doors to move horizontally away and towards one another, but fixes the movement of the doors in other directions. Abstract: A universal remote commander provided as a replacement for an original remote control unit has a specialized shape, which is intended to be easily held and gripped in the hand, employs only a minimum number of controls that are used in conjunction with a function selection switch that selects either television, VCR, or cable, for example. The specialized housing is V-shaped in orthogonal cross sections so that it is wider at the top than at the bottom in the front view, whereas it is narrower at the top and wider at the bottom in the side view so as to achieve a generally cylindrical feel when held in the hand. A rotary knob can be employed at the bottom of the housing to act as the function selector switch or the rotary knob can be spring loaded and to act as a jog switch when controlling a VCR. A keypad can include translucent buttons that can be lit from inside the remote commander for use in dimly lighted rooms.
