Patent number: 9384195Abstract: A mobile communication device may operate with a number of different applications, each having different file types associated therewith. A file analyzer receives data files and analyzes the files to identify a content type and thereafter associates the identified file with the appropriate application or applications. The received data files may be delivered through a wired connection, a wireless connection, or through the introduction of a memory device, such as a removable storage device, to the mobile communication device. The file analyzer may provide the appropriate notification or indication of association or association to the application associated with the identified content type and may further provide user notification of a newly delivered file. The files may be data files, such as text or multimedia files such as audio and/or video files.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2008Date of Patent: July 5, 2016Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Richard Zaffino, Arnold Schrider

Patent number: 8140093Abstract: A technique configures a wireless device to perform operations based on the wireless device being within or near a particular physical environment. A wireless signal source identifier (e.g., a cell site identifier) serves as a wireless landmark for the particular physical environment. When the wireless device detects the wireless landmark, the wireless device performs operations previously associated with the wireless landmark. To define a wireless landmark for a particular physical environment, the wireless device detects wireless communications signals and decodes the signals to determine wireless signal source identifiers. A user selects a particular wireless signal source identifier and associates the selected wireless signal source identifier with an indication of the physical environment, such as a character string representation of the physical environment. The user indicates one or more operations for the wireless device to perform in response to subsequent detection of the wireless landmark.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2007Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignee: AT&T Mobility II, LLCInventor: Richard Zaffino
