  • Publication number: 20120109052
Abstract: In one aspect, a pen needle assembly is provided herein which includes a hub, and a needle fixed to the hub, the needle having proximal and distal ends with a lumen extending therebetween. The needle extends distally from the hub to define an exposed length between the distal end of the needle and the hub in the range of about 5.0 to 9.0 mm. The hub defines a post formed about the needle, the post having a distally-facing first skin engaging surface. The exposed length of the needle extends distally from the first skin engaging surface. The hub also defines a distally-facing second skin engaging surface which at least partially circumscribes the first skin engaging surface. The second skin engaging surface being located proximally of the first skin engaging surface. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a pen needle assembly is provided having two skin engaging surfaces which provide stability in achieving subcutaneous injections.

  • Publication number: 20120041381
Abstract: A pen needle includes a hub having a first opening at a first end and a second opening at a second end. A needle is connected to the hub and extends through the first opening at the first end. Access to the needle through the second opening is prevented by a sterility barrier, which has a movable portion that is moved along a longitudinal axis of the needle to provide access to the needle. A storage container includes a housing having a plurality of cavities to receive a plurality of pen needles. A cover is rotatably connected to the housing and is rotated such that an access portion thereof is aligned with one of the cavities, thereby providing access to the pen needle in the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20110257604
Abstract: An additive force device (111) is connectible with a drug delivery device (100) to increase the amount of force exerted by a user on the dose setting knob (24) to facilitate injection. The additive force device (111) includes a first spring (121) and a loading barrel (135) connected to the first spring (121) for storing torque therein. A ratchet assembly (129) is connected to the loading barrel (135) and to the first spring (121). The ratchet assembly (129) has a first position in which torque is stored in the first spring (121) and a second position in which torque is released from the first spring (121). An inner barrel (133) is connected to the ratchet assembly and to the drug delivery device (100). The inner barrel (133) transmits the stored torque from the first spring (121) to the drug delivery device (100) to increase an injection force thereof.

  • Publication number: 20110184348
Abstract: A high pressure delivery device for delivering a medicament includes a first chamber for storing a supply of the medicament and a second chamber in fluid communication with the first chamber. A fluid connection path is in fluid communication with the second chamber for administering the medicament. A valving system is in fluid communication with the first chamber, the second chamber and the fluid connection path. The valving system allows a dose of the medicament to be injected from the first chamber into the second chamber while substantially preventing backflow of the dose into the first chamber and substantially preventing leakage through the fluid connection path. The valving system also allows the dose in the second chamber to be administered through the fluid connection path while substantially preventing the dose from flowing back into the first chamber.
