Patent number: 7527806Abstract: A disposable, single-use, personal care article is disclosed having an active zone, an adjacent non-active zone, and interface therebetween; a benefit agent releasably associated with the active zone; a carrier solvent and optionally a visual indicator associated with the active zone. In one embodiment, the benefit agent, the carrier solvent, and a dye indicator are combined and applied as stripes on the article. The stripes will not substantially bleed into the adjacent non-active zone and will disappear during use of the article indicating that the benefit agent has been transferred to the skin or hair of the user.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2002Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Robert Edward Gott, Ewa Padlo, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff

Patent number: 6875444Abstract: A test kit and method for visualizing fine lines and wrinkles is provided, the kit including a transparent strip with an adhesive on one surface thereof and an imaging substrate with at least one darkened glossy area for receiving the transparent strip. Written instructions are provided in the kit. These advise a consumer to place the adhesive surface of the strip against a skin area requiring measurement. Thereafter the strip is removed and placed against the darkened area of the substrate. Topographical features of the skin can be viewed through the transparent strip with the transferred skin image onto the blackened background. A cosmetic anti-aging product can be applied to the skin over a period of time. Beneficial changes caused by the product are visualized through the test strip as periodic measurements are taken.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2001Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Josephine Telesca, Liam Anthony Murray, Robert Edward Gott, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff

Patent number: 6733766Abstract: A substantially dry composition, especially for personal care products is provided which includes a colorant activatable in water to release a visual color, and an oil-soluble carrier. The colorant is insoluble in the carrier and the visual color is not imparted to the composition in its substantially dry state. Addition of water to the composition activates a color change which renders the visual color perceivable by a consumer. Color changes can be associated as a signal of performance by a consumer.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2002Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Robert Edward Gott, Ewa Urszula Padlo, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff

Patent number: 6491937Abstract: A disposable substantially dry foamable product is described including a water-insoluble substrate such as a flexible web, the substrate having first and second major surfaces, with a plurality of moguls spaced apart on the first major surface and a foamable composition deposited in major amounts on the second surface and a minor amount on the first surface. A method for producing the product is also described which employs the moguls in juxtaposition to a guide roller to establish space between a surface of the roller and the first surface of the substrate. Foamed composition is deposited onto the second surface which by seepage through apertures in the substrate allow a minor portion of the coating composition to deposit on the first surface of the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2001Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USAInventors: Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Robert Edward Gott, Alexander Paul Znaiden, Filomena Augusta Macedo
