  • Publication number: 20020182149
Abstract: A test kit and method for visualizing fine lines and wrinkles is provided, the kit including a transparent strip with an adhesive on one surface thereof and an imaging substrate with at least one darkened glossy area for receiving the transparent strip. Written instructions are provided in the kit. These advise a consumer to place the adhesive surface of the strip against a skin area requiring measurement. Thereafter the strip is removed and placed against the darkened area of the substrate. Topographical features of the skin can be viewed through the transparent strip with the transferred skin image onto the blackened background. A cosmetic anti-aging product can be applied to the skin over a period of time. Beneficial changes caused by the product are visualized through the test strip as periodic measurements are taken.

  • Publication number: 20020071859
Abstract: A cosmetic towelette is provided which includes a water-insoluble substrate and a fluid cosmetic composition impregnated into the substrate. The composition has a viscosity ranging from about 1 cps to 10,000 cps. The composition includes a water phase, a sunscreen phase and a surfactant system. The sunscreen phase is immiscible with the water phase and contains at least 25% organic sunscreen agent. Towelettes impregnated with the composition impart an effective SPF to the skin when applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 6391835
Abstract: A disposable substantially dry cleansing article is disclosed having a lathering surfactant and a C5-C12 alkyl diol impregnated into a flexible substrate such as a non-woven cloth. The alkyl diol primarily is a process aid which may concurrently improve aesthetics and increase latherability. Hexylene glycol is the preferred diol. Best performance is achieved with an alkyl diol to total lathering surfactant weight ratio from about 1:1 to about 1:8.

  • Patent number: 6287582
Abstract: A disposable towelette product is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate such as a tissue impregnated with an alpha- or beta-hydroxycarboxylic acid in a cosmetically acceptable carrier vehicle. Impregnated cosmetic composition in water will have a pH no higher than 6.8. A silicone microemulsion is present to minimize any stickiness resulting from deposition of the hydroxycarboxylic acid by the towelette onto the skin. In the presence of fatty acid group containing surfactants, the silicone microemulsion controls foul odors that the surfactants may emit through hydrolysis at low pH.
