  • Patent number: 5562063
Abstract: Sail support device comprising a plurality of slides (1) adapted to be retained to a sail (21) by webbing (8A). The slides (1) are accommodated in a groove (3) of a track member adapted for mounting on a stay (23). Each slide (1) has an elongate hollow body (2) with a longitudinal aperture through the wall thereof enabling an eye (20) formed by the webbing (8A) to be inserted into the body (2). A pin (9A) is insertable into the body (2) and through the eye (20) and locates in the body (2) to anchor the webbing (8A) thereto. A gate section (22) of the track member is rotatable about a connector joining sections (4A, 4B) of the track member together to expose open ends of grooves (3) enabling the slides (1) to be slid thereinto. With alignment of the grooves (3) of the gate section (22) with those of the track member, the sail (21) can be raised with slides (1) travelling up the full length of the track member.

  • Patent number: 4994297
Abstract: An aqueous wood smoke solution for flavoring foodstuffs is produced by heating in an oxygen starved atmosphere ground wood or cellulose to between 400.degree. C. and 650.degree. C. within 1.0 second; maintaining the said wood or cellulose and the primary pyrolysis vapors between 400.degree. C. and 650.degree. C. for between 0.03 and 2.0 seconds; reducing the temperature of the pyrolysis products to below 350.degree. C. within 0.6 seconds; separating and collecting the water soluble liquid products; and diluting the said water soluble liquid products with water to achieve a partial phase separation and to reduce the benzo(a)pyrene concentration to less than 1.0 ppb.

  • Patent number: 4632181
Abstract: An all ceramic heat exchanger for heating ambient air from hot waste fumes. In the preferred embodiment, the inlet and outlet tube walls for the ambient air are formed with removable inserts having bell-shaped openings formed therein. Central tube walls include an internal passageway formed therein and serve the dual purpose of supporting the matrix of transversely extending tubes and directing the flow of ambient air to other zones of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4611439
Abstract: A portable bleacher including a mobile frame supporting a pair of hinged elongated stringer members, each stringer member carrying a plurality of seats. When the stringer members are pivotally swung to their operative position in which the stringer members are aligned and declining transversely of the mobile frame, the seats are also spaced along the stringer members in a declining attitude. When the stringer members are swung to their inoperative positions, the hinged joint between the stringer members is elevated so that the stringer members have an inverted V-shaped configuration supported on the mobile frame and contained between the side edges of the frame for over-the-road movement. The bleacher may also be provided with extensible and collapsible side rails which move with the stringer members.

  • Patent number: 4228755
Abstract: A yacht foresail or mainsail support and change-over device. The support comprises at least two tracks on which said slides are slidingly captivated. The support is mounted against longitudinal movement with the lower end thereof upwardly of the lower end of the supporting fixture. A sail slide storage magazine is detachably mounted to the lower end of the support. The magazine incorporates a track(s) complementary to and abutting with the tracks of the support. Thus, a sail can be pre-loaded in the magazine and, with mounting to the support as aforesaid, raised. At the same time, conventionally immediately thereafter, a previously raised sail can be lowered into the empty magazine in readiness for re-raising or storage therewith.
