  • Publication number: 20070271132
Abstract: A computer implemented Availability Checking Tool wherein tool users work within a common work environment, from common enterprise data, and considering assets and demands across multiple order management systems and manufacturing facilities within boundaries established by manufacturing specifications, process flows and business policies. Tool users can easily maintain a synergistic relationship between orders from multiple demand sources or ordering systems. A demand configurator receives demand information from each demand source and coordinates product requests in accordance with customer request rules and priorities. A supply configurator receives manufacturing and planning data from a planning source and manipulates the received manufacturing and planning data to create new supply data. • Publication number: 20070201795
Abstract: An optical beam combiner and a related method for its operation, in which multiple coherent input beams are directed onto a diffractive optical element (DOE) along directions corresponding to diffraction orders of the DOE, such that the DOE generates a single output beam in a direction corresponding to a desired diffraction order, and suppresses outputs in directions corresponding to unwanted diffraction orders. The phases of the input beams are actively controlled to ensure and maintain the condition that only a single diffraction mode is present in the output of the DOE.

  • Patent number: 7258520
Abstract: A system for opening a substrate carrier includes a substrate carrier having an openable portion. The substrate carrier also has an opening mechanism coupled to the openable portion. A substrate transfer location has a support adapted to support a substrate carrier. The substrate transfer location also has an actuator mechanism. The actuator mechanism is positioned relative to the support so as to interact with the opening mechanism of the substrate carrier. The actuator mechanism of the substrate transfer location and the opening mechanism of the substrate carrier are adapted to interface with each other at the substrate transfer location so as to employ movement of the substrate carrier to achieve opening and closing of the substrate carrier.

  • Publication number: 20070189351
Abstract: A laser utilizing a liquid based lasing medium, comprising a colloidal suspension of selected solid state lasant nanoparticles in a selected liquid. Use of sufficiently small lasant nanoparticles allows relaxation of the requirement to match the refractive indices of the lasant and the liquid because the nanoparticles have a desirably low scattering loss even when the refractive indices are not perfectly matched. Therefore, higher laser powers are achievable without unwanted thermally induced birefringence and depolarization.

  • Publication number: 20070191859
Abstract: A surgical tool and method are provided for positioning an intervertebral device between vertebral members. The tool includes an elongate shaft, an anti-rotation sleeve, and an actuation mechanism. The shaft has proximal and distal ends, with the distal end of the shaft including an engagement member for releasably engaging an intervertebral device. The sleeve includes proximal and distal ends, and is movably mounted to the shaft for reciprocating relative thereto between retracted and extended positions. The distal end of the sleeve includes an anti-rotation member. The actuation mechanism controls positioning of the sleeve between the retracted and extended positions, and locks the sleeve relative to the shaft. When the intervertebral device is releasably engaged by the engagement member, and the sleeve is in the extended position, the anti-rotation member engages the intervertebral device and prevents rotation of the intervertebral device when releasing the engagement member from the intervertebral device.

  • Patent number: 7234584
Abstract: In a semiconductor fabrication facility, a conveyor transports substrate carriers. The substrate carriers are unloaded from the conveyor and loaded onto the conveyor without stopping the conveyor. A load and/or unload mechanism lifts the substrate carriers from the conveyor during unloading operations, while matching the horizontal speed of the conveyor. Similarly, during loading operations, the load/unload mechanism lowers a substrate carrier into engagement with the conveyor while matching the horizontal speed of the conveyor. Individual substrates, without carriers, may be similarly loaded and/or unloaded from a conveyor.

  • Publication number: 20070110364
Abstract: An image detection system includes a multimode fiber amplifier. The multimode fiber amplifier includes a core configured to receive an input image that includes a plurality of input beams spanning a range of incidence angles and to propagate at least some of the input beams as different ones of a plurality of transverse modes along the core. The multimode fiber amplifier provides an amplified image at an output facet thereof corresponding to the input image. A focal plane detector includes an array of detectors arranged to receive different portions of the amplified image.

  • Publication number: 20070086785
Abstract: An optical fiber amplifier array and related method, in which high beam quality is achieved by varying the frequency of an input signal applied to all of the fiber amplifiers, to locate a frequency at which the amplifiers produce nearly coherent optical outputs. In spite of statistical variations in length and other factors among the fibers, there are frequencies at which the amplifiers produce nearly coherent outputs. In the control system of the invention, the input signal frequency is scanned across a selected narrow range and the beam quality is monitored by measuring on-axis far-field output beam intensity. The frequency is scanned until the beam intensity exceeds a selected threshold, and then the frequency is held constant until the beam intensity falls below a second selected threshold.

  • Publication number: 20060279431
Abstract: A data collection system is formed from an analyte detection meter and a base station. The meter and the base station are operatively connected to one another to transfer data from the meter. The base station is able to communicate transferred data to a data receiving server, and the transfer of data occurs in response to a defined stimulus such as the proximity of the meter and base station or an alarm set at a predetermined time of day. The data collection system can be used in combination with a system interface that provides a data management system (DMS) resident on a device such as a personal computer. The DMS can recognize a particular meter and may incorporate into the displayed information not only the data resident on the meter but also information previously transferred from the meter. The DMS may be launched on the computer as soon as connection with a meter is detected.

  • Publication number: 20060224240
Abstract: A spacer for inserting between vertebral members. The spacer has a non-spherical shape with an anterior section having a first shape and a posterior section having a different shape. An attachment means is positioned within the posterior section, and may include a receiver for attachment with an insertion device, and an anti-rotation mechanism for assistance in removing the spacer from the insertion device. Embodiments of using the spacer is also disclosed which may include inserting the spacer between the vertebral members in a generally posterior approach. Once inserted, the insertion device acts with the anti-rotation device to remove a connection mechanism from the receiver. The spacer remains between the vertebral members and provides relief to the patient.

  • Publication number: 20060197296
Abstract: A shopping cart with the trailing end brake kit, includes a trailing end brake installed on each rear wheel of the shopping cart. The trailing end brake kit can be easily installed on any existing shopping cart in the field. The trailing end brake kit has a brake lever with an ON and OFF position, which is operated by their foot. To unlock the shopping cart's wheels, the operator must lift up the lever in the OFF position with the foot to disengage the lock on the wheels.
