  • Publication number: 20080148416
Abstract: The present invention relates to transgenic non-human animals, tissues or cells derived therefrom and methods of producing them. The transgenic non-human animals or tissues or cells derived therefrom provide a system capable of expressing human proteins responsible for drug metabolism in place of the homologous endogenous non-human animal proteins and for the controlled expression of human genes introduced into the animal so that the expression of the human genes is regulated in a manner more closely analogous to that seen in vivo in humans.

  • Patent number: 7376383
Abstract: In an electrophotographic printer or copier, toner images of images to be printed onto a printing substrate are generated and fixed, causing sliding characteristics to be worsened. In order to remedy this problem, a moistening device is provided that applies on the printing substrate a moistening agent made from a moistening fluid and a lubricant dissolved therein. Two problems are thus solved: the printing substrate is moistened and simultaneously lubricated.

  • Publication number: 20060109303
Abstract: A device for post-processing of printed print substrate webs comprises a smoothing device that is arranged immediately after the fixing device. The toner (still hot and doughy in terms of its consistency) is compressed with a predetermined pressure over a width of the print substrate web. It is thus achieved that less abrasion of the toner occurs in the further process and a specifically altered print image is generated.

  • Publication number: 20060039731
Abstract: In order to already be able to acceptably affix toner images applied on a print substrate at a beginning of a printing, it is necessary that the heat capacity requirement necessary for this is known. This is dependent on the properties of the print substrate such as its weight, dampness, heat conductivity, etc. A measurement arrangement made up of a reference radiation source and a temperature sensor is provided to determine the heat capacity requirement. The print substrate is irradiated with the reference radiation source. The heat emitted by the print substrate is measured with the temperature sensor. The heat requirement of the print substrate can be determined from the measurement result, for example at a beginning of the printing event.

  • Publication number: 20050158099
Abstract: Changes of properties (for example, dampness, sliding characteristic, gloss) of a printing substrate web caused by a printing of a printing substrate web are corrected by a multifunction device that is arranged at an output of the printing device. In the multifunction device, arranged in succession in the transport direction of the printing substrate web are devices for buffering, for smoothing, for moistening, for cooling, for lubrication and for discharge of the printing substrate web. The devices are executed and adapted to one another such that they can be optionally deactivated by the uses without affecting the functions of the remaining devices.

  • Patent number: 6563088
Abstract: An electrical plug-like connector, in particular a socket or cigar(ette) lighter in motor vehicles having a sleeve-like guide part for axially accepting a cigar(ette) lighter or a connector plug of an electrical device. A first fixed contact is arranged in the sleeve base region on an insulation carrier. The fixed first contact is acted upon by a counter contact, and the electrically conductive guide part forms a second fixed contact that acts upon other counter contacts. Thermal overload protection is also provided. Parallel to the thermal overload protection and at a distance from the insulation carrier, a sheet metal insert is provided, extending in the sleeve base section. On the underside of the sheet metal insert, an electrically-conductive bimetal-switch spring is fixed such that such that in the non-operative condition the bimetal switch spring acts upon the first fixed contact or upon a side contact connected with the side contact.
