  • Patent number: 11947795
Abstract: A storage system and related method are for operating solid-state storage memory in a storage system. Zones of solid-state storage memory are provided. Each zone includes a portion of the solid-state storage memory. The zone has a data write requirement for the zone for reliability of data reads. The storage system adjusts power loss protection for at least one zone. The adjusting is based on the data write requirement for the zone and responsive to detecting a power loss.

  • Publication number: 20230364605
Abstract: Provided are methods of engulfing particles into droplets. The methods use a microfluidic device comprising a droplet generator and a chamber, the chamber comprising a liquid medium disposed on a voltage supply electrode and a ground electrode. The methods comprise dispensing a particle and a droplet into the liquid medium, and dielectrophoretically trapping the particle and the droplet using the voltage supply electrode and the ground electrode. The methods further comprise engulfing the particle into the droplet, wherein the engulfing comprises increasing a supply voltage between the voltage supply electrode and the ground electrode, thereby moving the droplet toward the voltage supply electrode and engulfing the particle into the droplet. In certain embodiments, the methods further comprise modifying the engulfed particle, assessing the engulfed particle, or both. Devices that find use in practicing the methods of the present disclosure are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20230281437
Abstract: A multiplicative analog frequency transform optical neural network (MAFT-ONN) encodes data in the frequency domain, achieves matrix-vector products in a single shot using photoelectric multiplication, and uses a single electro-optic modulator for the nonlinear activation of all neurons in each layer. Photoelectric multiplication between radio frequency (RF)-encoded optical frequency combs allows single-shot matrix-vector multiplication and nonlinear activation, leading to high throughput and ultra-low latency. This frequency-encoding scheme can be implemented with several neurons per hardware spatial mode and allows for an arbitrary number of layers to be cascaded in the analog domain. For example, a three-layer DNN can compute over four million fully analog operations and implement both a convolutional and fully connected layer.

  • Publication number: 20210276174
Abstract: A locking tool extension apparatus and painting tool assembly for preventing threaded tool handles from loosening on an extension pole includes a plurality of painting tools having a threaded female handle aperture. An extension pole has a threaded male pole end coupled to a pole top side. A locking tool extension apparatus comprises a sleeve body having a threaded female receiving. The female receiving aperture selectively receives the threaded male pole end of the extension pole. A threaded male extension end is coupled to the sleeve body. The male extension end is selectively engageable with the threaded female handle aperture of the tool handle. A first spring lock washer is coupled to the sleeve body. The first spring lock washer prevents the tool handle from unintentionally loosening on the male extension end.

  • Patent number: 10477845
Abstract: A fishing lure includes a jig having a body, a hook, and a blade attached to the body at two attachment points. The hook extends along a longitudinal axis of the body. A fixed wire loop extends from a forward end of the body along the longitudinal axis to directly connect the blade to the body. The blade has an edge near the body, a first attachment hole through the blade near the first edge, a second attachment hole aligned with and spaced near the first attachment hole, and a pair of line attachment holes spaced apart from the second attachment hole. The wire loop is fed directly through both the first and the second attachment holes, and the first edge is outside the wire loop. This arrangement controls the jig body's movement relative to the blade, reducing the likelihood of rollover that could lead to snagging.

  • Patent number: 9253967
Abstract: The snag-resistant fishing lure is designed to minimize the chances of the lure becoming ensnared. The lure has a jig and a blade attached to the blade in a configuration that limits the side-to-side movement of the blade, thereby preventing the jig from rolling to a hook-downward position prone to snagging. A centrally aligned hole is positioned close to the front edge of the blade member. An eyelet extending from the jig body is attached through an aperture in the blade. The blade is limited in its side-to-side movement by contact between the blade edge and either the jig body or the eyelet. The limited side-to-side movement of the blade creates a quick, controlled, oscillating blade action that imparts a natural swimming motion to the lure, emulating prey species movements.
