  • Publication number: 20050172454
Abstract: A hinge assembly includes a body drive member (1), a cover drive member (2), and a locating member (3). The body drive member has an outer screw thread (16) on an outer periphery thereof. The cover drive member has a central cavity (212, 224), and a projection (223) and an inner screw thread (216) formed in the cavity. The locating member has a projection (31) formed on an outer periphery thereof, and a central hole (33). The body drive member extends through the cavity and the hole, thereby integrating the hinge assembly into a complete unit, with the thread of the body drive member engaging with the thread of the cover drive member, and the projection of the cover drive member movably engaging with the projection of the locating member. The hinge assembly exerts reduced force on a foldable electronic device when the foldable electronic device is opened or closed.

  • Publication number: 20050146860
Abstract: A portable electronic device (100) includes a base cover (12), a latching assembly (13) including a knob (14) and a spring (16), and a removable panel (18). The knob includes a sliding slit (1462a) and a latching projection (1452). The panel includes a latching hole (185) and a resisting protrusion (1852). The knob is engagable in the latching hole. The knob is attached on the base cover and can be rotated. One end of the spring biases the knob, and another end of the spring protrudes out of the sliding slit and biases the base cover. When the panel is attached on the base cover, the resisting protrusion and the latching projection interfere with each other to drive the knob to rotate in a first direction, the spring rebounds and drives the knob to rotate in an opposite second direction, and the resisting protrusion is secured below the latching projection.

  • Publication number: 20040224221
Abstract: A battery cover assembly includes a battery cover (3) defining guiding slots (326) therein, a connecting member (2), a housing (1) defining a battery-receiving compartment (194), a plurality of springs (5), and a rod (4). The housing includes a left sidewall (16), a partion wall (19), a first step (161) and a second step (163) connecting against the left sidewall, defining a receiving recess (167). The connecting member is slidingly received in the guiding slots along a lateral direction. The rod inserts through the connecting member, the springs, and secured in the receiving recess such that the battery cover can rotate about the rod. When the battery cover is rotated downwardly to the housing, a force is required to press the battery cover down upon the housing, and then inwardly along a direction toward the rod until locking projections (302) on the cover catch in troughs (182) defined in the housing.
