  • Publication number: 20050089998
Abstract: A continuously operational biological reactor for the aerobic processing of animal waste into chemically free fertilizer includes an inner drum and an outer drum coaxially mounted on a horizontal center shaft with the inner annular surface of each drum including conveyor threads with the angularity of the conveyor threads being opposite each other so that the animal waste material can be conveyed down the inner drum and then back up the outer drum for processing into chemically free fertilizer. The biological reactor will include a hopper for receiving the material, a dewatering unit for material compression and preheater, and a mixer for introducing air and microbes to facilitate the processing. The center shaft includes instrumentation passageways for monitoring and control of the process and air flow passageways for diluting and discharging volatile substances such as methane.

  • Patent number: 6821111
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards the hybrid combination of a drop gate injection molding system and a lattice gate. The lattice gate is located prior to the orifice of the drop gate. The lattice gate is comprised of a series of cross-direction flow channels through which the rubber flows, with mixing of the rubbers at the intersections of the flow channels. This hybrid molding system permits shorter cure times, and improved process cycle time for curing rubbers.

Abstract: A wet connect/disconnect arrangement is disclosed for a downhole system that allows installation of various tools and/or a string and subsequent electrical connection to the downhole system in a wet environment. Several embodiments are disclosed, all of which produce a clean, reliable connection. Exemplary embodiments include an upper section being mechanically and electrically joined to an intermediate section with electrical connectors for being joined at a lower section. The intermediate section further has auxiliary connectors that may be protected by a cover and remain unmated in a first connected application being therefore available for future use. The upper section may be removed leaving the intermediate section in place whereby the unmated connectors are available to rejoin a new upper section. Different types of connectors are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5992447
Abstract: A device for filling a swimming pool having a liner and a shell includes a water supply valve to control the flow of water into said swimming pool; a vacuum pump to evacuate air from the space between the liner and the shell as the swimming pool is being filled; a probe for generating a signal when the water in the pool reaches a predetermined height; and a controller responsive to the signal from the probe to shut off said water supply valve and the vacuum pump when water is detected by the probe. A current sensor monitors the current to the vacuum pump and shuts off the water supply valve when the vacuum pump ceases operation. A bypass switch allows the current sensor to be disabled.

  • Patent number: 5208150
Abstract: An improved plating media incorporates TERGITOL.RTM.4, an alkyl sodium sulfate biological detergent, in a Xylose-lysine agar base. The plating media may also include peptone and sulfapyridine to further inhibit Citrobacter growth. The media is highly preferential for Salmonella, giving a greater number of Salmonella positives, and reduced competitive organisms. When incorporated with drag swab methodology employing skim milk or evaporated milk as a holding media, which may advantageously include novobiocin to suppress unwanted bacterial growth, coupled with a tetrathionate-culturing broth or other selective enrichment broth, the plating media completes a highly sensitive assay for the detection of Salmonella, particularly keyed for poultry and livestock handling structures, and for veterinary and human clinical laboratory applications.

  • Patent number: 4037519
Abstract: An electro hydraulic system for controlling a hydraulic function includes a pump and a reservoir connected to the function through a manually operable, electro-hydraulic control valve. The valve is positionable to either side of a neutral ports blocked position and may be held to one side by the engaging of a spring loaded detent. The detent is disengaged by an electrical signal produced by a comparator when a preset, operator-controlled, limiting signal is equalled by a feed back sensor signal proportional to the output of the function. The system will allow initial activation of the valve to provide continuous operation of the function until the limiting input is reached at which time the function will be stopped. The system further provides manual override of the electrical control system to permit operation of the valve when the feedback signal is greater than the limiting input signal.

  • Patent number: 3970071
Abstract: A surface heater and dryer includes a housing having a skirt for concentrating heat over a large area of the surface and contains a heater and blower for forcing super heated air onto the surface. Mounting structure is connected to the housing for supporting the heater and dryer on a suitable vehicle and adjustments are provided to adjust the position of the heater and dryer to compensate for weight changes and surface variations. Controls are also provided to regulate the temperature and amount of air discharged from the skirt for use of the heater and dryer for diverse purposes requiring different temperatures, and a hot air recirculator and fuel vaporizer are provided with vanes arranged to control the same to further regulate the heat output of the heater and dryer. Also provided is an arrangement of multiple heater and dryer units and accompanying controls for effecting treatment of a correspondingly large surface area.
