Abstract: An optical measuring apparatus includes a light emitter, a scanner, a polarizing plate, a photoreceiver, and a CPU. The light emitter emits a laser beam. The scanner uses the laser beam emitted from the light emitter and scans a measurement region where a work piece is placed. The polarizing plate allows passage for only a laser beam, among the laser beams fired by the scanner, directed orthogonally to an emission direction of the laser beam and an axis direction of the work piece. The photoreceiver receives the laser beam that has passed through the measurement region and the polarizing plate. The CPU calculates a dimension of the work piece from a pattern of light and dark in a scan direction, the pattern being obtained by the photoreceiver.

In one aspect, a method includes receiving data that specify a set of responsive resources for a search request that was submitted by a user device. A determination is made that a resource request for a particular resource from the set of responsive resources will cause the user device to be redirected to a different resource than the particular resource. In response to the determination a reference to the different resource is inserted into a search result for the particular resource. The search result for the particular resource is provided to the user device, where the search result includes the reference to the different resource.

A computing device can receive a query from a user device, a current time, and a location for the user device. The computing device identifies results responsive to the query, including one or more business results that are each associated with a business location and operating hours. The computing device can select a subset of the business results as open results based on the operating hours of the business results, the current time, and travel times from the device location to the respective business locations. Data can be provided for a search engine results page that designates the subset of the business results as open results.

The information processing unit compares a program that is set based on a newly-input ID with a program that is set based on an already-input ID, and ends the currently-executed program when the two programs are different from each other. In this method, by putting an object in a sensor effective area, a program corresponding to the ID of the object is started, and by removing the object from the sensor effective area, the program is ended.
