Abstract: In one aspect, the invention is directed to a watercraft that is drivable by a manual force input member and by a motor. The watercraft is configured to prevent the motor from back-driving the manual force input member. In a particular embodiment, the watercraft includes a hull, a propelling member configured to propel the hull through water, a manual force input member that is movable manually, an output shaft that is operatively connected to the propelling member and that is drivable by the manual force input member, a motor that is operatively connectable to the output shaft, and a one-way clutch connected between the manual force input member and the output shaft. The one-way clutch is configured to permit the manual force input member to drive the output shaft in a first rotational direction, and to prevent the output shaft from driving the manual force input member in the first rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 6918381
Abstract: A fuel return valve comprises a housing and a closing unit, a first passage, which is line-connected to a fuel pump, a second passage, which is line-connected to an internal combustion engine, and a third passage, which is line-connected to the fuel tank, as well as a pressure chamber, being formed in the housing, which pressure chamber is in communication with the first passage, and, via the closing unit, with the third passage. To make a valve of this type maintenance-free and simple and inexpensive to produce, the closing unit is a piston which is guided in the housing attachment and is pressed by a spring arranged and supported in the housing attachment onto a sealing surface which is formed on the housing and surrounds the pressure chamber, and an annular chamber which is in communication with the third passage and with the space containing the spring is formed outside the sealing surface.

  • Patent number: 6685045
Abstract: A plug (2) for sealing a filler neck (1) of a fuel tank has a cap (3) which is dismountably attached to the end (5) of the filler neck using a thread (4) or bayonet, and a seal (6) whose sealing surface (7) faces a counter-sealing surface (8) of the filler neck, whereby a ring-shaped molding (9) is provided between the sealing surface and the counter-sealing surface. In order to minimize the amount of permeation, a sealing ring (10) outside of the molding (9) is provided, the sealing ring being made of an elastomer with high resistance to permeation, and the sealing surface (7) and the counter-sealing surface (8) create a narrow gap (20) on the sealing ring (10) side facing the molding (9), this gap extending to the sealing ring (10).

  • Patent number: 6435557
Abstract: A fluid tank assembly comprises a first tank half having an upper edge flange with an expanded section or ledge extending outwards. A second mating tank half similarly has a lower edge flange and extending ledge. Both ledges have apertures, with lower ledge aperture having a smaller diameter than the upper ledge aperture. The second aperture has a raised edge or lip, so that an annular groove is formed between the lip and the inner edge of the upper aperture when the surfaces of the mating flanges and ledges are in contact and the apertures are coaxial. The two flange and ledge surfaces are normally welded or otherwise secured together. A binding material is added to the annular groove to substantially fill its volume so that a sealing connection is created. This sealing connection near the bolt aperture overcomes the sealing problem that is normally present in this region, and therefore extends the service life of the tank.

  • Publication number: 20010035211
Abstract: The invention relates to a combination of a check valve for preventing the backflow of fuel from a fuel tank with an apparatus for limiting the fill level. The check valve is fixed to the end segment, projecting into the fuel tank, of a filler pipe and has a movable valve part exposing an inlet opening. The apparatus for limiting the fill level is arranged, viewed from the fuel tank, in front of the check valve and has a flap capable of closing an inlet opening and being actuated by a float. The flap, which is capable of closing the inlet opening is operatively connected to the rotatably mounted float via a transmission linkage in such a way that a comparatively slight rotation of the float will bring about a much greater rotation of the flap to adopt the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6286559
Abstract: In motor vehicles with an onboard refueling vapor recovery (ORVR) system, a filling pipe with a reduced cross-section is provided. The pipe portion with reduced cross-sectional area has at least one longitudinally directed bead which gradually merges into the adjoining cylindrical regions to reduce flow resistance and prevent turbulent flow. The bead can be produced without impairing the strength of the filling pipe. When two or more beads are provided, they are preferably distributed equiangularly.
