  • Patent number: 6260726
Abstract: A pressure and/or vacuum relief valve (11) for fitting in a cap assembly (4) for an automotive tank filler neck (1), with a substantially cylindrical valve housing (12), in which a valve spindle (23) controlling a first valve gap (26, 27) is mounted axially movably, on which, if necessary, a sleeve (29) controlling a second valve gap (27, 30) is guided axially movably, wherein the valve spindle (23) passes through a central aperture (24) in the upper end and a central aperture (25) in the lower end of the valve housing (12) and is axially guided by those apertures (24, 25).

  • Patent number: 6253788
Abstract: A check valve for use in a filler pipe of a motor-vehicle fuel system, having a housing fixed in the interior of the pipe and a movably mounted flap closure which is opened by the flow of fuel through the filler pipe to the fuel tank, and closes again automatically when fueling stops. According to the invention, a configuration that is particularly favorable in terms of flow dynamics is provided wherein the flap closure comprises two valve flaps which are movably mounted jointly in the region of the center of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6076695
Abstract: Closure cap for the acoustical indication of a predetermined torque being exceeded during securing, having a closure part which can be secured in a sealing manner on the opening; a gripping part for applying the torque; a rotational connection between the closure part and gripping part, which connection permits relative rotation between said two parts; springs which act between the closure part and gripping part in the direction of the relative rotation and subject the extent of the relative rotation to the torque applied; and at least one arrangement comprising a resilient tongue and a snap-in bead, one part of the arrangement being arranged the gripping part and the other part being arranged on the closure part, and at one point during the relative rotation the tongue, by being temporarily deflected, passing the snap-in bead.

  • Patent number: 6009920
Abstract: The present invention is a capless refueling assembly for a motor vehicle fuel tank. The capless refueling assembly has a housing assembly having a nozzle-receiving opening in fluid communication with the fuel tank such that a fuel nozzle can be inserted in the nozzle-receiving opening and supply liquid fuel to the fuel tank. A primary seal is mounted within the housing assembly for pivotal movement between a sealed position wherein the primary seal sealingly closes the nozzle-receiving opening and an open position. The pivotal movement is responsive to a fuel nozzle being inserted into and removed from the nozzle-receiving opening. A closure is pivotally mounted to the housing assembly for movement between a covering position wherein the closure covers a mouth of the nozzle-receiving opening and an access position wherein a fuel nozzle can be inserted into the nozzle-receiving opening. A vapor venting valve engages the primary seal for cooperative movement therewith.

  • Patent number: 5944076
Abstract: An on-board refueling vapor recovery system for a motor vehicle comprising a fuel tank constructed to store a quantity of liquid fuel. A nozzle-receiving portion has a nozzle-receiving opening fluidly communicated with the fuel tank. Closure structure is constructed to be moved into closing engagement with the nozzle-receiving portion to close the nozzle-receiving opening. An exhaust passage communicates the fuel tank to an atmosphere outside of the motor vehicle to thereby allow fuel vapor to vent from the fuel tank to the atmosphere. The exhaust passage includes a filtration device communicated with the fuel tank to filter environmentally harmful elements from the fuel vapor as it vents from the fuel tank to the atmosphere. A closure structure sensing device is configured to transmit electric signals based on whether the closure structure is in closing engagement with the nozzle-receiving portion. A valve control unit is configured to control whether the valve is opened or closed.
