  • Publication number: 20120129258
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a cell chip and a method of fabricating the same. The cell chip includes a cell-adhesivecell-adhesive layer disposed on a substrate. Photocrosslinked polymer barriers are disposed on the cell-adhesivecell-adhesive layer. The photocrosslinked polymer barriers may serve to restrict and grow cells only on the cell-adhesivecell-adhesive layer exposed between the barriers. Therefore, a cell growth direction may be precisely controlled. In addition, the photocrosslinked polymer barrier has a pattern formed by light, and simplifies a process of fabricating a cell chip.

  • Publication number: 20020136142
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical data storage medium and a device and method thereof; and, more particularly, to an optical data storage medium based on semiconductor luminescence, which is capable of limiting searching and recording of optical data to a certain location in three-dimensional, easy multi-stage data searching, controlling of luminescence wavelength, excellent durability of data, requiring relatively low energy compared to a method of damaging silica, one-time-recording and repeated-searching, and to a device and method for searching for and recording optical data based on the photon absorption effect. The method of recording optical data takes a semiconductor-dispersed-thin layer on an optically transparent medium as a recording layer. Data recorded in a certain layer is searched based on the luminescence property of nanometer-sized crystalline semiconductor by using single-photon or two-photon absorption.

  • Patent number: 6150187
Abstract: The present invention relates to the encapsulation for extending the lifetime of a flexible organic or polymer light emitting device and, more particularly, to encapsulation by sealing with multiple polymer films to prevent the penetration of oxygen and moisture into an organic or polymer light emitting device. Due to the encapsulation of polymer light emitting device with the multiple polymer films, exposure to moisture and oxygen are prevented, which are causes of device degradation. When using a plastic substrate whose the thermal endurance is high, simultaneously, it has a thermal endurance effect to the Joule heat during device operation. Accordingly, there can be fabricated an organic or polymer light emitting display whose lifetime is extended through the encapsulation of an organic of polymer light emitting device with multiple polymer films.

  • Patent number: 6069353
Abstract: A polymer photodetector includes a resonant wavelength controller which resonates an optical beam with a particular wavelength only from the incident optical beam received thereinto through the rear surface of the reflection layer, so as to selectively detect the optical beam with the particular wavelength. The resonant wavelength controller includes a fixed mirror layer, a movable mirror layer, and an air layer disposed therebetween. The resonant wavelength can be adjusted by varying an optical length between the movable mirror layer and the fixed mirror layer. The optical length can be adjusted by varying the thickness of the air layer between the movable mirror layer and the fixed mirror layer by way of adjusting the electrostatic force.

  • Patent number: 5567363
Abstract: The present invention relates to a manufacturing method of a polymer GRIN lens which is used for focusing light in connections for example between two or more optical fibers and between an optical fiber and a light source in the optical communication field. The manufacturing method of a GRIN lens according to the present invention utilizes a characteristic of polystyrene that its refractive-index is decreased by sulfonation. The method includes polymerizing a sphere or rod made of a directional monomer that is capable of sulfonating like a styrene, together with a cross-linking agent, and a polymerization initiator; swelling the polymerized cross-linked polymer by using a predetermined solvent; and sulfonating the swollen cross-linked polymer using a sulfuric acid. Accordingly, the present method can be easily controlled to obtain the desired refractive-index distribution since the refractive-index distribution is determined by the diffusion of the sulfuric acid as a sulfonation.
