  • Patent number: 7027800
Abstract: System and method for providing a service to a subscriber in a network. A specific network information of a mobile station (1) is provided to a service provider (5) which generates an individual service message on the basis of the provided network information. The provision of the network information may be dependent on a predetermined subscriber condition. Thus, the service message can be transmitted to predetermined subscribers without requiring the subscriber to generate and transmit the specific network information to the service provider (5).

  • Patent number: 6980512
Abstract: A packet switching control system and method are described, for controlling a packet switched connection between a subscriber terminal and an end terminal identified by a connection endpoint identification in a communication network. A subscriber-specific screening list for a plurality of connection endpoint identifications is provided, wherein an subscriber-specific screening control of the packet switched connection is performed on the basis of the screening list. The screening list may contain detection point settings for an IN interrogation so as to provide an interworking function between the IN and the packet network. Moreover, the screening list may include a charging information to thereby define different charging parameters for packet connections to different connection endpoints. This enables the subscriber to define price limits for predetermined connections.

  • Publication number: 20050245239
Abstract: Within a cellular network, an incoming voice mail message is received at a voice mail server (20), adapted into a format suitable for transmission by a network connection which does not meet a delay requirement for delay sensitive information, dispatched to a mobile station (30), and received, readapted and stored thereat within a storing means (35). Adaptation, transmission, reception and readaptation conform to standards such as the GPRS and the UMTS. The voice mail message is dispatched directly to the mobile station (30) via an IP address or an ISDN address thereof. In this manner, instead of dispatching a message via the SMS, the sending of an adapted voice mail message directly to a mobile station (30) and storing it thereat makes it possible to avoid that a user has to poll a service center by calling in order to have the message delivered.

  • Patent number: 6955918
Abstract: A method (400) for relocating a serving network entity is presented. Before the relocation certain packet data information is transmitted between a terminal and a first network entity (901) at least via a second network entity (902) and via a third network entity (903). The first network entity (901) is connected to the second network entity (902) with a first path (911) and to a third network entity (903) with a second path (912), and the second network entity, which is before the relocation acting as the serving network entity, is connected to the third network entity, which is its peer network entity and after relocation acting as the serving network entity, with a third path (913). The first, second and third paths are separate paths. After the relocation said information is transmitted via the third network entity.

  • Publication number: 20050119008
Abstract: It is disclosed a method of adjusting mobility management in a mobile communication network, said mobile communication network comprising a mobility control unit (4; 40; 320) adapted to track location of communication units (1; 10; 310) communicating in said mobile communication network and to control the mobility management for said communication units. Mobility information related to a communication unit is provided (S1) to said mobility control unit, which evaluates (S2) the degree of mobility of said communication unit from said mobility information related to said communication unit. On the basis of said evaluated degree of mobility, mobility management elements used for mobility management of said communication unit in said mobile communication network are correspondingly adjusted (S3). Furthermore, there are disclosed a corresponding mobility control unit, a corresponding communication unit as well as a corresponding mobility management adjustment system.

  • Patent number: 6898433
Abstract: A method for indicating a mobile station's (MS) location. A first radio network controller, RNC, acts as the mobile station's serving RNC (SRNC), for reporting the mobile station's location to the core network (CN). A second RNC acts as the mobile station's drift RNC (DRNC), for maintaining a radio connection with the mobile station. In response to fulfillment of at least one criterion in a first set of criteria, the mobile station (MS) sends location information about its location to the second RNC (DRNC) which forwards the location information to the first RNC (SRNC) for reporting to the core network (CN). There is also a second set of criteria for transforming the location information. In response to fulfillment of at least one criterion in the second set, the first RNC (SRNC) sends falsified information about the mobile station's location to the core network (CN).

  • Publication number: 20050108417
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method for mitigating subscriber database loads. Messaging routing information obtained from a subscriber database at the sending side of a message transaction is sent along with the message to the receiving side of the message transaction, thereby obviating the need for the receiving side to obtain the same information from the subscriber database. Caching may be used at the sending and/or receiving side of the message transaction to further reduce the need for queries to the subscriber database. In more involved embodiments such as MMS transfers, the message routing information can include subscriber identities to subscriber notification network elements to further reduce queries to the subscriber database.
