Examples may include a receiving wireless device located in a first geographic zone receiving multiple signals from one or more transmitting wireless devices. The receiving wireless device may determine based on the received signals that the one or more transmitting devices are located in a second geographic zone. The receiving wireless device may determine configured transmit power information for each of the signals received from the transmitting wireless devices located in the second geographic zone. The receiving wireless device may estimate a path loss of wireless communications between the first geographic zone and the second geographic zone based on the configured transmit powers received in the signals. The receiving wireless device may communicate within the second geographic location based on the estimated path loss between the first geographic region and the second geographic region.

An apparatus, e.g., a user equipment (UE) with information to transmit, identifies before transmitting the information in an unlicensed frequency spectrum, a specified duration of a listen-before-talk (LBT) operation in that spectrum. Based on the specified duration, the UE reduces a transmission time duration of a slot of the UE to increase a time duration of a remainder of the slot sufficient to prevent, or decrease the likelihood of, a transmission by the UE in the slot from interfering with an LBT operation by another UE.

To establish the unicast connection over the sidelink, the first UE may transmit a request message (e.g., a first message) to the second UE, and the second UE may transmit a response message (e.g., a second message) to the first UE accepting the request. The unicast connection over the sidelink may then be established between the first UE and the second UE, and user data may then be transmitted over the sidelink on the established unicast connection. Additionally, the first UE may transmit a connection complete message (e.g., a third message) to the second UE indicating that the unicast connection has been established. The request message, the response message, and the connection complete message may be radio resource control (RRC) messages.

A first user equipment (UE) may monitor various sensors to obtain data associated with a user of the first UE, and may determine that the user is in a vulnerable state based on monitoring these sensors. The vulnerable state of the user may include an inebriated state, a distracted state, an impaired state, or a disabled state, among other examples. After detecting the vulnerable state of the user, the first UE may transmit a public safety message (PSM) to other devices in the area. Upon receiving the PSM from the UE, a network entity may use positioning information to identify other UEs within a threshold distance of the first UE, and may transmit an alert message to these UEs. The techniques described herein may reduce the probability of nearby pedestrians or vehicles colliding with the user.
