  • Patent number: 11870534
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enhancing beam failure indications and detections. In particular, the present disclosure provides techniques for identifying and indicating reasons associated with beam failures. For example, in aspects, a user equipment (UE) may evaluate multiple beam failure indicator (BFI) trigger conditions based on beam failure detection (BFD) reference signal (RS) measurements. The UE logs different types of BFIs based on the evaluating. If a logged number of BFIs exceeds a threshold value within a measurement period, the UE declares a beam failure and transmits, to a network entity, an indication of the beam failure and a reason for the beam failure based on the different types of BFIs detected.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may communicate with a network node via a first wireless link using a first beam according to a first beam configuration. • Patent number: 11855738
Abstract: Aspects relate to beam management reports that enable selection of best antenna panel and beam combinations for uplink transmissions from a user equipment (UE) when one or more antenna panels of the UE are subject to a maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit. The UE receives a reference signal at a plurality of antenna panels, wherein the reference signal is received in different beams on each of the plurality of antenna panels. The UE determines N beams providing highest measured strengths of the reference signal on at least one of the plurality of antenna panels, wherein the MPE limit is to be applied to the at least one of the plurality of antenna panels for uplink transmissions. The UE transmits a beam management report including reduced highest measured strengths of the reference signal in the N beams to account for the MPE limit.

  • Publication number: 20230412234
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure address beam management enhancement with the assistance of a cooperative relay UE over a sidelink (SL) channel. A UE may include a memory and a processor. The processor may use machine learning and channel condition measurements to predict an upcoming Uu link beam failure (BF). Based on the prediction, the processor may request SL data resources from a base station, wherein the processor may receive an allocated SL channel and a relay UE. When the Uu link fails, the processor can transmit a beam failure recovery (BFR) signal to the base station using the relay UE over the SL channel. The present disclosure overcomes the deficiencies of conventional BFR processes in which the BF forces the UE to perform a contentious RACH procedure, causing time delays and power consumption.
