Publication number: 20040246290Abstract: There is provided an image forming apparatus which can control reciprocation of a carriage and paper feed in a highly accurate manner and form an image of high quality even when paper skews or paper of a different type from that of the paper set is supplied. An ink jet printer (1) provided with motion sensor (70) in a carriage (31) determines the type of paper (P) by using a paper position signal output by the motion sensor (70) and changes printing conditions in accordance with the type of paper. Also, the ink jet printer (1) calculates a moving amount of the carriage (31), a feed amount and a deviation amount of the paper (P), and controls the reciprocation of the carriage (31) and the feeding of the paper (P) based on calculated values.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Applicant: BROTHER KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Shigeyuki Hayashi, Masatoshi Kokubo

Patent number: 6805425Abstract: An image forming device capable of reducing transfer errors of paper even when the transfer amount of paper cannot be detected accurately. The image forming device is provided with a motion sensor, and calculates the transfer amount of paper using signals output by the motion sensor. It is determined whether or not the transfer amount is within a predetermined normal range. If it is determined that the transfer amount is within the normal range, a paper transfer amount control value is set to the calculated transfer amount, while if it is determined that the transfer amount is outside the range, the paper transfer amount control value is set to a preliminarily set standard transfer amount. The image forming device controls the transfer of paper based on the above paper transfer amount control value.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2003Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shigeyuki Hayashi, Masatoshi Kokubo

Publication number: 20030128373Abstract: An image forming device that is capable of performing transfer of paper constantly in a highly accurate manner, irrespective of types or conditions of paper. The image forming device is provided with a motion sensor in a paper transfer path thereof for detecting the surface condition of an idle roller moving in accordance with the paper, and transfer of the paper is controlled on the basis of surface condition signals generated by the motion sensor. The motion sensor makes laser light, which is irradiated by a semiconductor laser, hit on an outer peripheral surface of the idle roller that rotates accompanying the transfer of paper and the reflected light is received by a two-dimensional semiconductor image sensor. Then, the surface condition signals are detected on the basis of speckle patterns generated in the reflected light.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 6, 2003Publication date: July 10, 2003Applicant: BROTHER KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventors: Shigeyuki Hayashi, Masatoshi Kokubo

Patent number: 5708834Abstract: A client-server type network having at least two clients which execute the same kind of operation. The server and the clients are improved in order to realize addition or reduction in the number of clients. When the client is started, the fact that the client in under operation is recorded in the data base of the server. Since the addition of a client is automatically recorded in the server, the addition is easily facilitated. The server is provided with a client managing device for judging whether or not the client is under operation by polling. If the client is stopped due to a problem or the like, the fact is automatically recorded in the data base of the server. Therefore, it is also easy to eliminate the client from the data base of the server.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1995Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kenichi Sasaki, Akibumi Mochizuki, Makoto Kawachi, Shigeyuki Hayashi, Yasuyoshi Katsuragawa, Fujio Saito, Mina Suzuki, Kazuhiko Ashizawa
