Abstract: A tree stand for receiving and supporting a tree, such as a live, cut Christmas tree, comprises a receptacle for receiving the trunk of the tree and a base for supporting the receptacle when the tree is received therein. The receptacle includes a clamping assembly for securing the trunk of the tree in the receptacle, while the base includes a locking assembly for locking the tree in place once it is moved to the desired vertical position. An actuator such as a foot pedal is provided for operating the locking assembly so that the user can position the tree by hand while standing on his feet with the foot pedal depressed and then lock the tree in place simply by releasing the pedal.

Abstract: A device for automatically brewing and holding tea has a water reservoir and a combined water reservoir inlet and heated water distributor attached to and extending forward from the water reservoir, a base for holding a hot tea receptacle under the combined water reservoir inlet and heated water distributor. A hot tea receptacle especially adapted for use with the device has a flat bottom surface for optimal heat transfer from the base to the receptacle.

Abstract: An improved centrifugal fat extraction apparatus for removing surface liquid from food which comprises a housing assembly having mounted at its bottom a self-centering drive assembly having a shaft extending vertically from the self-centering drive assembly within the housing assembly, a rotatable spindle mounted onto the shaft, a means for rotating the spindle at a variable speed between 750 and 1200 rpm for approximately a 45 second time span, and a rotatable cylindrical slotted basket capable of holding foods. The self-centering drive assembly prevents undesirable vibration from being imparted to the housing assembly as the result of eccentric loading of the foods into the slotted basket.

Abstract: A probe cover for an infrared thermometer has a pleated sheath which fits over the thermometer probe and a base, which is engageable with the probe, is attached to the periphery of the sheath to hold the sheath over the probe. The sheath is made of a thin infrared transparent film and is formed with a window which causes minimal attenuation of infrared emission received by the thermometer.
