  • Patent number: 5131555
Abstract: A top for a beverage container which includes a handle which is pivotally mounted on the top between a stowage position and a frangible seal breaking position. A camming arrangement is incorporated on the top which functions to locate the handle in a canted position within the frangible seal breaking position so as to facilitate the movement of the handle to frangibly separate a breakaway tab incorporated within the top. The locating of the handle in the canted position can be accomplished by use of a proturberance mounted on the top with the handle to be moved over to ride on the protuberance or can be accomplished by means of a protuberance mounted on the handle which rides within an arcuate slot formed within the top.

  • Patent number: 5094359
Abstract: A combination packaging/shipping carton and ice bucket for a plurality of can or bottled type of beverage containers, wherein the carton assumes a minimum volume position during packaging and shipping then can be moved to an expanded or increased volume position when it is intended to be used as an ice bucket. Each corner of the carton includes triangular webs which move from an abutting together position to a substantially in-line position during movement of the carton to the increased volume position. The side and end panels of the carton have attached thereto foldable flaps which fold over upon theirselves, when the carton is in the minimum volume position, closing the enclosing chamber of the carton to the ambient. When these foldable flaps are moved away from each other to assume a substantial in-line position with their respective side panel and end panel, the enclosing container is open to the ambient with this enclosing container increasing in size to permit usage of the carton as an ice bucket.

  • Patent number: 5039178
Abstract: A storage system is provided which can efficiently store a variety of magnetic storage elements such as VHS video cassette packs, standard audio cassette packs, Beta video cassette packs, 51/4" floppy disc packs, and CD (compact disc) packs alternately in a given space in a drawer. The drawer has opposite sides with vertical tabs spaced along each side to form spaces that closely receive opposite ends of a VHS cassette pack. A pair of cassette adaptors can each lie in spaces otherwise occupied by a VHS cassette pack, the adaptors having vertical ribs that store standard audio cassettes in an orientation perpendicular to that of the VHS cassettes. A pair of disc pack adaptors can be mounted at opposite sides of the drawer, these adaptors having walls forming wide slots for holding CD disc packs and narrower slots at the bottom of the wide slots for holding 51/4" floppy disc packs. The disc pack adaptors hold the disc packs at an incline from the vertical to reduce their height and facilitate reading of titles.

  • Patent number: 5020624
Abstract: A modular power drive scooter, including as modular components a seat, a seat post, a mainframe, a trailer and at least one battery, is built in a manner allowing quick and easy disassembly of the scooter for compact storage. In assembled form, the seat post supports the seat and also serves as a lock pin which prevents separation of the mainframe from the trailer. The mainframe includes a front wheel, a tiller assembly for steering the scooter, and recesses for accommodating one or more batteries. The trailer includes a pair of rear wheels coupled to a differential which is driven by an electric motor, and a removable storage tray that provides access to the motor. A stem member extending from the trailer engages the mainframe in an overlapping relation whereby apertures in the stem member align with ports in the mainframe. The seat post is inserted into a selected port to determine the spacing of the seat from the tiller assembly.

  • Patent number: 4951835
Abstract: A frangible seal breaking and aperture resealing device for a beverage container which utilizes a handle being pivotally mounted on the top of the beverage container. The handle is movable from a stowage position to a frangible seal breaking position and then to an aperture resealing position. There is incorporated on the top a camming protuberance which has the function of locating the handle in an inclined or canted position so as to facilitate its movement to frangibly separate a break-away tab incorporated within the top of the beverage container. The camming protuberance also exerts a biasing force tending to maintain the handle in the resealing position.
