  • Publication number: 20160117607
Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed for establishing interaction among electronic devices of an environment. The device has a transmitter, receiver, memory for storing interaction rules, and a processor for learning the interaction rules in association with the transmitter, receiver, and other devices of the environment. The device also includes components for performing the device specific functions and a state sensor for determining the logical or physical state of the device. Methods involve observing at one or more devices change of state activity among the plurality of devices through receiving a change of state message that is transmitted to the one or more devices. A set of rules are learned at the one or more devices based upon observing the change of state activity. The learned set of rules are then applied at the one or more devices to automatically control changes of state of devices within the plurality of devices.

  • Publication number: 20160041039
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the calibration of sensors of the type that comprises a plurality of sensor elements, such as focal plane arrays, FPAs, for detecting infrared radiation, IR-FPA, the calibration being performed at least two temperatures. According to the invention, the sensor's dynamic range is divided into a plurality of intervals (5), a correction map is updated on a miming basis in each interval by a scene-based non-uniformity correction (6), the correction terms between adjacent intervals are interpolated (7), and the interpolated correction terms are made to correct the sensor elements of the relevant sensor (8). The invention also relates to a computer program and a computer program product. By way of the invention, a method is provided which effectively minimizes the fixed pattern noise to near zero across the entire dynamic range of the sensor, regardless of the type of non-linearity.

  • Publication number: 20150310594
Abstract: The invention relates to an image processing method and device for removing high-frequency fixed pattern noise from a video sequence, wherein a sequence of incoming frames is saved when the relevant scene moves across the detector of a provided camera and a cumulative image of fixed pattern noise is formed from the saved image sequence and wherein an average is formed (4) from the sequence of incoming saved frames. The device is also capable of removing slowly varying spatio-temporal fixed pattern noise. This is achieved by a method comprising the steps of: (a) spatially high-pass filtering the formed average (7); (b) weighting the spatially high-pass filtered average pixel by pixel temporally with a metric of the difference between incoming saved frames (5, 8, 14); (c) weighting the spatially high-pass filtered average with the value of an edge metric of incoming saved frames (6, 9, 15); (d) storing (11) the weighted, spatially high-pass filtered average and subtracting (20) it from the video sequence.

  • Publication number: 20140354825
Abstract: Various techniques are provided for a stray light compensation method for an infrared (IR) camera. For example, a stray light compensation method includes: capturing an IR image of a scene by an IR camera, generating a fixed pattern noise estimate FPNestt0 for time t0 using the captured IR image and a stray light model associated with the IR camera, and performing a fixed pattern noise (FPN) compensation of the captured IR image based on said FPNestt0 to obtain a stray light compensated IR image. The fixed pattern noise estimate may be generated through operations in a frequency domain representation of the captured IR image and the stray light model according to one or more embodiments.
