  • Patent number: 8952648
Abstract: A method of braking a washing machine from an operational speed to a zero speed is provided (as well as a washing machine incorporating the method) for a washing machine driven by one of a synchronous or asynchronous motor. Upon receipt of a stop signal, collapsing the motor rotating magnetic fields are collapsed for a predefined time period. After the predefined time period, DC braking voltage is applied to the motor stator windings at a controlled ramp-up rate to a fixed amplitude to generate a controlled ramped braking torque on the motor. The braking torque is applied until the motor is stopped.

  • Publication number: 20130230540
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a monovalent polypeptide domain which specifically binds CD28, as well as to an antagonist of CD28, where the antagonist comprises a monovalent polypeptide domain which specifically binds CD28. This disclosure encompasses monovalent polypeptide domains comprising an antibody single variable domain that monovalently binds CD28. An antibody single variable domain that is monovalent for binding of CD28 can inhibit CD28 activity. In one aspect, a monovalent anti-CD28 antibody single variable domain consists of or comprises an antibody single variable domain that specifically binds and antagonizes the activity of CD28, in an aspect, without substantially agonizing CD28 activity. In another aspect, the monovalent anti-CD28 antibody single variable domain is a human antibody single variable domain.

  • Patent number: 8425286
Abstract: Quick release couplings for releasably coupling components of a computer to the computer are disclosed. The quick release coupling mechanisms are generally configured to allow tool-less placement of the components relative to the computer. That is, the quick release coupling mechanisms are configured to perform their couplings without using conventional fasteners such as screws, bolts, etc. By eliminating the use of fasteners, the components may be inserted and removed from the computer without using tools (e.g., tool-less). Furthermore, the quick release couplings are easy to maneuver thereby enabling quick and straightforward assembly and disassembly of the components to and from the computer (e.g., quick release). For example, the components may be inserted and removed by a simple pushing or pulling motion, and/or by a simple flick of a latch or handle.

  • Publication number: 20130078216
Abstract: The present invention relates to molecules that can be targeted to the liver. These liver targeting molecules (e.g.fusions and conjugates) comprise proteins, antibodies or antibody fragments such as immunoglobulin (antibody) single variable domains (dAbs) and also one or more additional molecules which it is desired to deliver to the liver such as interferons. The invention further relates to uses, formulations, compositions and devices comprising such liver targeting molecules. The invention also relates to immunoglobulin (antibody) single variable domains which bind to hepatocytes.
