Abstract: A method and system for improving responsiveness in exchanging management and control frames in a wireless local area network are disclosed. An initiator sends a frame (action frame, management frame, CSI frame, control frame, or data frame) to a responder. Upon correctly receiving the frame, the responder sends a response frame to the initiator instead of directly sending an acknowledgement (ACK) packet. The responder preferably accesses the wireless medium to send the response frame in a short inter-frame spacing (SIFS). With this scheme, a long delay associated with having to contend for the wireless medium to send the response frame is avoided and therefore, the responsiveness and timeliness of the feedback mechanism is significantly enhanced. The response frame may be piggybacked on or aggregated with another packet.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for enhancements in email communication. In some embodiments, address-context information of an email message is rendered to aid the user in various user interface scenarios. These scenarios include user interfaces for a Reply All command and a Send command. The activation of the Reply All command in some embodiments is enabled with a predefined gesture on the user interface that is different from a gesture or gestures used for other commands such as the Reply command. The gesture required for the activation of the Send command can be changed based on the command that was activated to create the email message to be sent.

Abstract: A system and method for creating, managing, and using an application in a messaging environment is described. A communication including an application specification comprising zero or more commands is received from a sender and processed. The system and method determine whether the application specification is in a done condition, and iterates until done. A confirming specification, including revisions made while iterating, is also created and returned to the sender and recipients.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for enabling communications in a wireless local area network (WLAN). A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) may receive, from an access point (AP), a management frame comprising capability information. The capability information may comprise an indication of support for reception via non-contiguous channels. The WTRU may transmit, on a condition that reception via non-contiguous channels is supported, at least one data packet, to the AP, via multiple non-contiguous channels. The multiple non-contiguous channels may be used simultaneously.

Abstract: Live-custom recording functionality is described. Live-custom recording can help a teleconferencing participant overcome situations where the participant may, for example, not have been attentive and therefore may have missed what was communicated. Another example of a situation that can be overcome with techniques described in this paper is one in which the participant cannot hear the speaker due to inadequate or low bandwidth and network connectivity issues. An enhanced conference recording functionality such as the live-custom recording functionality proposed and described herein is designed to capture applicable segments or clips of the teleconference meeting.

Abstract: A system and method for communicating a multimedia presentation between a presenter and an audience is described. Services provided via a network facilitate the communication, and include real-time determination of remaining portions of a presentation responsive to “on the fly” presentation modifications, automated filtering and prioritization of audience feedback to a presenter, integration with one or more customer data resources, and repositioning of a shared electronic pointer by reorienting a wireless handheld presenter device.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for user interfaces and associated processes in email communication. Incoming email messages that identify a sender and message recipients are rendered with Reply, Reply-All, and Forward command icons that can be activated by a user to create an outgoing email message. When a user so activates one of the command icons, the methods and systems create and render the outgoing email message to include a Send icon that indicates the command activated to create the outgoing email message (e.g., the Send icon alerts the user that the outgoing email message was created responsive to a Reply-All command). The Send icon may also inform the user of input required to activate the Send command (e.g., double click) based on the command that initiated creation of the outgoing email message.

Abstract: A method performed by a STA may comprise transmitting a first negotiation message to an AP and receiving a second negotiation message from the AP. The first negotiation message and the second negotiation message may negotiate a block acknowledgement agreement. The method may further comprise receiving a data unit, from the AP, the data unit having a duration field indicating a duration of a block-ACK frame. The duration of the block-ACK frame may be determined based on the negotiated block ACK agreement. A block-ACK frame may be transmitted within the duration indicated by the duration field.

Abstract: A method performed by an AP may comprise initializing a CCC and increasing the CCC upon a change of at least one of a plurality of parameters of the AP. The plurality of parameters may include at least a high throughput (HT) Operation element, one or more Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) parameters, or one or more operational mode parameters. The method may further comprise transmitting a frame, to at least one STA, wherein the frame includes an indication of the CCC, and the frame indicates that the at least one STA return from a power saving mode.

Abstract: An administrator can use an administrative-wireless-device to control a target wireless device using an SMS message to convey a command. The data of the command message can be encrypted to prevent malicious attacks. The encrypted data may include a universal device identifier unique to the target device, the phone number of the administrative-wireless-device, and a time stamp memorializing command or message creation. Before executing the command, however, the target device compares the phone number of the administrative-wireless-device with the number identified with the incoming SMS message to authenticate the administrative-wireless-device.

Abstract: A networked communication system allows a vendor that maintains a web site to prioritize, select, and establish human-assisted interaction with visitors to the website. The vendor's human help agents are provided with intuitive interfaces that depict visitor priority based on agent-specific ranking rules. Agents can manage these rules to optimize their performance in responding to visitors, and thus improve the quality of visitors' experiences.

Abstract: A messaging system supports a presentation session with participants of the presentation, a presenter and one or more audience members. The message system allows the participants to share messages and documents via respective client/mobile devices. An application on each mobile device allows the audience member to peruse and comment on document portions (e.g., pages, images, or slides) being presented. The presentation sequence for the document portions can be managed by the presenter, or document perusal can be decoupled from the presentation sequence to allow audience members to focus on past or future document portions. Comments of the audience member or other participants can be linked to corresponding document portions. A user may repeat, reprise or continue a past presentation.

Abstract: An effective strategy should result in reduced resource consumption in association with an event. Reducing time at a bottleneck in event check-in would be considered a positive result. However, it is desirable to maintain privacy policy compliance. Utilizing the techniques described in this paper reduces time at check-in related to physical badge preparation and distribution while maintaining privacy policy compliance. The system and method can include pre-event activities, event-concurrent activities, and post-event activities related to accuracy, precision, aesthetics, coordination, and learning in association with badge preparation and distribution.

Abstract: A method performed by a STA may comprise transmitting a first negotiation message to an AP and receiving a second negotiation message from the AP. Abstract: A method performed by a STA may comprise receiving, from an access point, a RTS frame having a duration field and transmitting, to the AP, in response to receiving the RTS frame, a CTS frame. The method may further comprise receiving, from the AP, data of a MU data unit addressed to the STA and another STA and, in response, transmitting an ACK frame, to the AP. The data may be received by the STA on a subset of sub-carrier frequencies of which the MU data unit spans and the MU data unit and the ACK frame may be transmitted within a duration indicated by the duration field.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a communication stream for associating messages are described. A communication stream receives various message types including messages, posts, events, tasks, and comments, and presents them to users. Private messages relating to one or more messages may be sent between and among one or more users.

Abstract: An administrator charged with responsibility for one or more administered wireless devices can use a wireless device to disable lost or stolen devices using an SMS lost-mode message. The data of the lost-mode message can be encrypted to prevent malicious attacks. The encrypted data may include a universal device identifier unique to the target device, the phone number of the administrator's device, and a time stamp memorializing command or message creation. Successful decryption authenticates the administrator. Before executing the lost-mode command, however, the target device reviews the unique identifier to verify the target and compares the phone number of the administrator's device with the number identified with the incoming SMS message to authenticate the relaying device. The target device can also consider an embedded time stamp to determine whether the lost-device command has been superseded.

Abstract: Enhanced protocols and devices may be used to alleviate loss of spectrum efficiency in wideband transmission. The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, an access point (AP) may receive, from a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), a first CF-End frame that includes a duration field and a basic service set identifier (BSSID) field that includes an individual/group bit. On a condition that the individual/group bit of the BSSID field has a value of one (1), the AP may determine that a scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame indicates a bandwidth associated with a transmit opportunity (TXOP) being truncated by the WTRU. The AP may then transmit a second CF-End frame at the bandwidth indicated by the scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame.

Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used in wireless communications. The apparatus may be an access point (AP), and may transmit a power save frame. The power save frame may include one or more Uplink (UL) Transmission Times (ULT)s. The apparatus may determine that a station (STA) did not transmit during its respective ULT. The AP may transmit another power save frame. The other power save frame may include a modified ULT. The modified ULT may be for a STA that did not transmit during its respective ULT. The other power save frame may include an unmodified ULT. The unmodified ULT may be for a STA that did not transmit.
