  • Publication number: 20090138527
Abstract: Data recovery operations on corrupted computer equipment now commonly accomplished by bringing the computer to a laboratory are carried out by a portable unit at the computer site. The imposed restriction of data transfer to or from a hard drive in the portable unit precludes data from reaching any destination other than the originating data store or the unit hard drive. The unit is operative, in the field, to service a sequence of corrupted data memories in a number of computers by constraining data transfer in each instance solely between the originating data memory and the designated file in the hard disk of the portable unit.

  • Publication number: 20080261985
Abstract: This invention describes novel tricyclic-bis-enone derivatives (TBEs), such as TBE-31, TBE-34, TBE-45 and water-soluble TBEs. The methods of preparing these compounds are also disclosed. The inventors demonstrate the ability of these new TBEs to inhibit proliferation of human myeloma cells, inhibit the induction of iNOS in cells stimulated with interferon-?, induce heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), induce CD11b expression—a leukemia differentiation marker, inhibit proliferation of leukemia cells, induce apoptosis in human lung cancer, and induce apoptosis in other cancerous cells. The TBEs of this invention are expected to be useful agents for the treatment and prevention of many diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, inflammation, and pathologies involving oxidative stress.

  • Publication number: 20080225334
Abstract: In printing an electronic document on a paper, an MFP prints a code image created by encoding a paper ID including a local ID issued to the paper and stores paper information with the paper ID. The MFP determines a type of data format, creates a paper ID in the data format, and prints a code image created by encoding the paper ID. In copying a printed paper, the MFP decodes the code image printed on the paper to acquire the paper ID and retrieves paper information associated with the paper ID according to the data format. The MFP specifies the electronic document as a print source from retrieved paper information and performs printing using the electronic document.

  • Publication number: 20080198394
Abstract: A print-information acquiring unit acquires print object information as an image and predetermined information to be encoded. A code-image creating unit encodes the predetermined information according to a predetermined encode rule to create a plurality of types of code images. A layer-image creating unit creates a plurality of types of layer images including the code images for each of the types. A combined-image creating unit superimposes the types of layer images according to a predetermined superimposition rule to create a combined image. A printing unit prints the combined image created by the combined-image creating unit on a recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20080198405
Abstract: In a printing operation, a first MFP prints a code image of a paper ID, and stores paper information including information specifying an electronic document as a print source with the paper ID. In a copying operation in a second MFP, the second MFP acquires the paper ID from the code image and paper information through a network, specifies an electronic document using the paper information, and acquires the specified electronic document through the network. The second MFP prints the code image of the paper ID and the acquired electronic document, and stores paper information including the paper ID of a copy source with the paper ID.

  • Publication number: 20080198423
Abstract: A controller combines a code image created by encoding a paper ID and an image representing an electronic document, causes a printing unit to print the code image on a paper, causes a code-image reading unit to read the code image printed on the paper by the printing unit, acquires the paper ID, and collates the paper ID before encoding and the decoded paper ID. When the paper IDs do not coincide with each other or when the paper ID cannot be acquired, the controller causes an NG recording unit to perform NG recording on the paper and causes a paper-conveying-path switching unit to switch a discharge destination of the paper to a garbage tray and discharge the paper.

  • Publication number: 20080192291
Abstract: In a copying operation, an MFP reads a code image printed on the paper, acquires a paper ID from the code image, acquires paper information associated with the paper ID, specifies an electronic document as a print source, and acquires the specified electronic document. The MFP prints a paper ID on the paper with the code image and the acquired electronic document, and stores paper information including a paper ID of a copy source in association with the paper ID. When a first MFP leaves an image processing system, respective information concerning electronic document acquisition managed by the first MFP is transferred to a second MFP.

  • Publication number: 20080121763
Abstract: A system and apparatus are provided for managing cables, wires, and cords, and more particularly, to organize and route cables and wires in various directions. For example, there is provided an apparatus comprising: a cable clip with a rigid circular base and a flexible dome-shaped head, wherein the base includes a central aperture and an adhesive layer covered by a protective film on one side and is integrated with the dome-shaped head on the other side. The dome-shaped head has a plurality of slots that extend radially across the head and intersect with one another, forming an opening. In one embodiment, each slot has circular shaped arcuate openings on opposites sides creating first and second transit paths for a cable or wire. The resulting dome-shaped head has a plurality of retaining arms that receive cables, retains them, and can be attached to a surface by a variety of methods.

  • Patent number: 7318750
Abstract: A computer management apparatus is provided for interconnecting a user console including peripheral devices such as a keyboard, a video display unit, a mouse, and speakers for connecting to a plurality of host computers, selectively accessed via the user console (“KVMA cartridge”). The host computers interface with the KVMA cartridge via a removable edge connector with a first set of cables that attach to the plurality of host computers. The KVMA cartridge connects to the edge connector via a leading edge of a circuit board having a plurality of traces on the leading edge with electrical leads connected to a switching circuit within the KVMA cartridge. In one embodiment, the user may increase the length of the first set of cables by inserting an extension cartridge with a second set of cables between the KVMA cartridge and the edge connector with the first set of cables.
