  • Patent number: 7091887
Abstract: A modulator includes a replacement processing unit which replaces a part of main information code-converted in a main information converter with specific information code-converted in a specific information converter and a direct-current component suppress processing unit which performs direct-current component suppress processing for the main information which has undergone the replacement processing in the replacement processing unit. The direct-current component suppress processing can be performed for the main information after the replacement processing of the main information with the specific information to prevent deterioration in direct-current component suppress characteristics due to the replacement processing.

  • Publication number: 20060112284
Abstract: Reinforcement of a system renewability is realized skillfully utilizing properties peculiar to a system. As a result, there is produced such a new effect as to similarly reinforce required specification with respect to copyright protection of a content recorded in a medium for exclusive use in reproduction and a recordable medium. In a system which encrypts information such as a content to record/reproduce the information, design is made so that encryption/decryption processing information differs for a device (software (S/W) main body device) whose main body is software constituted of a recording/reproducing drive of a recording medium and a personal computer (PC), a device (hardware (H/W) main body device) whose main body is hardware integrally containing a drive and data coding/demodulation processing, and the medium for exclusive use in reproduction and the recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20060067529
Abstract: Content data is moved from a first recording medium to a second recording medium, the first recording medium recording an encrypted content (key is first key), a first encrypted key (key is a fourth key which is generated from a second key and a third key), and a second encrypted key (key is the third key). The method comprises decrypting the encrypted content and the second encrypted key which are read from the first recording medium to obtain the plain content and the second key, transmitting the plain content and the second key to the second recording medium, and deleting the second encrypted key from the first recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6983413
Abstract: When an error-correcting code is created for the data stored in a memory and added to the data, even if an error occurs in the data on the memory, the adverse effect of the error will be eliminated. In the present invention, when the data is stored in the memory, an error-correcting code PI is created beforehand using another memory, such as an S-RAM. The error-correcting code PI, together with the data, is written into the memory. After 16 sectors of data and PI have been stored, an error-correcting code PO is created for the data and PI and added to them. When the data is read from the memory, a PI correcting process is carried out each time a PI series is read out. This makes it possible to restore the original data, even if the data is destroyed (or an error occurs) on the memory.

  • Publication number: 20050270911
Abstract: An optical disk apparatus comprises a Gray code detector for detecting a Gray code of a track address, a position detector for detecting, as an address uncertain position, a least significant bit of the detected Gray code of the track address and a bit of the detected Gray code of the track address and is higher by one than a bit position of a least significant code bit “1”, and a replacing unit which replaces a bit at the address uncertain position of the land address with a bit at a corresponding position of the groove address of the same track, and replaces a bit at the address uncertain position of the groove address with a bit at a corresponding position of the land address of the same track.

  • Publication number: 20050254387
Abstract: From a main information file including main information, and a specific information file which has two or more data blocks including specific information and has a data capacity of two or more times greater than a predetermined capacity, a plurality of error correction code blocks whose data capacity is the predetermined capacity are generated. A confidential information is embedded in the specific information in the generated plurality of error correction blocks. When the main information in the recording medium is rewritten in a unit of the error correction code block, the confidential information embedded in the specific information is protected because either of the two data blocks in the specific information file remains without being rewritten.

  • Publication number: 20050216816
Abstract: Error correction codes are generated by the respective components of an ECC block, then the codes are added so as to generate an error correction code of the ECC block as a whole. Because error correction codes have linearity, the same results can be obtained by adding the error correction codes after they are calculated separately, as the error correction code calculated as a whole ECC block. The error correction code is calculated by separating the ECC block, thereby the number of times to read/write from/to a memory can be restricted as a whole ECC block, and the amount of data to write/read to/from a memory can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050204270
Abstract: A row of the data block which is a set of the data sector is distributed to constitute two blocks. In this case, as a distribution condition, an even-number row block of the even-number sector and the odd-number row block of the even-number sector, the odd-number row block of the even-number sector and an even-number row block of the even-number sector are obtained. Then, the block is aggregated in the transmission order, and an outer parity is scattered to each sector to form an interleaved form.

  • Publication number: 20050154905
Abstract: Embedded proprietary data, which is configured by embedding decoding key data for decoding encoded contents into proprietary data that is a subject of ownership, is recorded on a recording medium. Since the decoding key data is embedded into the proprietary data, it is difficult to separate and take out the decoding key data from the proprietary data. When copying or the like including the proprietary data is performed, it becomes possible to legally pursue a copy or the like of the proprietary data.
