    Abstract: An image transfer device includes a member for carrying a transfer material thereon and an image bearing member having an image thereon, the transfer material carrying member being subjected to a transfer corona therethrough to transfer the image from the image bearing member onto the transfer material. When the transfer material is separated from the transfer material carrying member by a separation pawl, that portion of the transfer material carrying member from a position in which the transfer material is in close contact with the carrying member to another position in which the transfer material is separated from the carrying member by the separation pawl is charged by a pair of corona chargers with the transfer material carrying member being located therebetween, so that the transfer material can more readily be separated from the carrying member.

    Abstract: A color image reading apparatus with a plurality of line sensors and an associated plurality of rotary color filter disks produces a plurality of sequential color component signals from each line sensor. An amplifier with an adjustable gain is provided for each of the line sensors. A white balance operation is performed prior to reading a color document by determining gains for each of the amplifiers to use in amplifying corresponding ones of the sequential color component signals on the basis of a plurality of reference color component signals generated by reading a white reference plate with the line sensors. The determined gains are stored in a memory as digital data. The data is read out and used to control the gains of the amplifiers while a color document is being read. Color balance correction switch units enable an operator to selectively modify the determined gains in order to adjust the color balance of the color component signals.

    Abstract: An electrophotographic method and apparatus is disclosed which is able to faithfully reproduce the half-tone portion of an original image on a photosensitive medium having an electroconductive layer, a photoconductive layer and an insulating surface layer. The present invention is directed particularly to improvements in the secondary charging step in the above method. According to the invention, the process of secondary charge includes the steps of subjecting the photosensitive medium to the action of corona discharge having the component of opposite polarity to that of the primary charge with simultaneous light image exposure, exposing the photosensitive medium surface to a light image while reducing or stopping the action of corona discharge and exposing the photosensitive medium surface to a light image while controlling the amount of corona discharge.

    Abstract: An electrophotographic device wherein an image is formed by exposing a movable photosensitive member to an optical image, wherein such member includes a conductive layer, a photoconductive layer, and an insulating layer. A primary corona discharger of predetermined polarity charges the surface of such member and an imagewise exposure is effected through an optically open port in the rear side of a secondary corona discharger. A plural number of sets of control grids, adapted to be set at different electric potentials, are used in conjunction with the secondary charger which applies a corona discharge having an opposite polarity component to the primary corona. The control potential at the upstream grid has a value biased more toward the high light potential side of the latent image than toward the control potential of the adjacent grid.

    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided an improved process for producing a quick-cooking noodle without frying treatment. The process is especially suitable for producing a quick-cooking snack noodle. Noodle formulations containing starch flour and edible fat and/or oil in addition to wheat flour and/or buckwheat flour, egg powder, salt, water and a noodle dough conditioner are mixed, rolled into a continuous noodle sheet, which is then slit into noodle strands, followed by steaming. Thereafter, the steamed noodle strands are cooled to within 30.degree.-60.degree. C. by blowing cold air, dried and then packaged together with flavoring agents and additives, preferably in a suitable insulating container.

The process comprises the steps of applying onto the surface of the photosensitive medium a uniform corona discharge with a predetermined polarity, exposing it to an original light image, applying to it a secondary corona discharge with a component of the opposite polarity to that of the primary uniform corona discharge simultaneously with or immediately after the image-wise exposure, uniformly exposing it to near infrared light almost simultaneously with the secondary corona discharge and subjecting it to a whole surface exposure with white light so as to form an electrostatic latent image corresponding to the original light image.
