Contact tails of the conductors extend from a mounting face of the housing therethrough. The mounting face of the housing includes a slot. In some embodiments, the slot exposes portions of ground conductors of the connector and receives a member coupled with the exposed portions of the ground conductors such that the electrical connector can meet high performance requirements. The member may be inserted into or molded in the slot. In some embodiments, the slot may or may not receive a member that is insulative when the electrical connector does not need to meet the high performance requirements. Such a configuration enables the same connector to be compatible with multiple performance protocols.
