The portable terminal includes an LCD 26, a memory 17 for storing the dictionary information comprised of plural words and exemplary sentences, a key input unit 29 for inputting unit characters, a CPU 13 for retrieving from the memory the words and/or exemplary sentences displayed on the LCD 26 based on the input from the key input unit 29 and/or on the character string already finalized, and a jog dial 40.

Abstract: A time display bar is displayed in a purchasing picture, and an elapsed time indication bar for indicating an elapsed broadcast time of a selected PPV program with respect to its total broadcast time is displayed in the time display bar. By looking at the time display bar, a user can immediately and visually recognize the progress in time of the selected PPV program at the present time. Where the selected PPV program accommodates NVOD, time display bars for candidate PPV programs having the same contents as the selected PPV program and to be broadcast on different channels are also displayed in the purchasing picture. This provides more effective user interface.

Abstract: A clutch control apparatus includes a clutch disk, which is engaged with a flywheel, by means of a diaphragm spring; a release mechanism (including a rod and an electric motor) for pressing a central portion of the diaphragm spring; and a clutch control circuit. The flywheel and an outer circumferential portion of the diaphragm spring abut each other via taper portions of a pressure plate and an adjust wedge member. The clutch control circuit calculates an ideal clutch load and an output torque of the electric motor for a detected stroke of the rod. On the basis of these values, the clutch control circuit obtains the acceleration of the rod. The clutch control circuit estimates a stroke of the rod from the obtained acceleration and causes the adjust wedge member to rotate such that a detected actual stroke and the estimated stroke become equal, thereby modifying the attitude of the diaphragm spring accordingly.

Abstract: A program table guide control apparatus according to this invention generates program table picture including date and hour information, program title information and genre information to display only title of the program relating to broadcasting channel being received in connection with the title information, and to permit user to arbitrarily register genre information displayed. In addition, programs of high viewing frequency of user are automatically registered, thus permitting registered programs to be included in genre information. Thus, Electronic Program Guide (EPG) extremely easy for user to use can be provided.

Abstract: A receiving method in the receiving equipment in, first, a service table composed of channel numbers currently on air is made and, if the channel key is judged to be pressed, a channel number searched from the service table is displayed on the screen. If the channel key is judged to be pressed continuously, only the channel numbers are changed and if the channel key is judged to be released, a channel selection is started. There is thus provideded a receiving equipment capable of swiftly selecting a desired channel of the television broadcasting.

Abstract: Program information can be obtained quickly and accurately. An area X1 on which date and day are displayed is disposed at the left end of a screen and an area X2 in which time is displayed is disposed adjacent to the area X1 in the right-hand side. An area Y in which title of program, etc., are displayed is disposed adjacent to the area X2 in the right-hand side. An area Z in which genre is displayed is disposed adjacent to the area Y in the right-hand side. Information displayed on the respective areas are sequentially arranged in the longitudinal direction. A user can select information of a desired program by moving cursors 100X1, 100X2, 100Y, 100Z of the respective areas.

Abstract: A television receiver receives a television signal that includes electronic program guide (EPG) information and the television receiver has an EPG decoder and display for displaying the EPG information. A video tape recorder or satellite broadcast receiver is connected to the television receiver over a special bus and when the EPG information is displayed on the television receiver either the identity of the VTR or the EPG information decoded by an EPG decoder in the satellite receiver is displayed along with the EPG information decoded by the EPG decoder in the television receiver. The viewer then can select a program from among the television receiver EPG stations or select the VTR or can select a program from among the satellite broadcast receiver EPG stations.

Abstract: An interactive display apparatus transmits voting information to a vote receiving center. Prior to voting, all voting items are displayed. A mark or a button is also displayed for each voting item and used for selecting one of a plurality of voting items. After one of the voting items is chosen, only the mark assigned to the selected voting item is displayed, erasing the marks for the other unselected voting items. In this way, the user is capable of recognizing that voting has been completed with ease from a voting screen.

Abstract: A printer for printing video image having control circuits which are composed of a circuit for measuring a horizontal scanning frequency and the number of scanning lines of an input video signal, a circuit for calculating a sampling frequency of the video signal on the basis of the measured horizontal scanning frequency, and a circuit for calculating a moving pitch of a printing element for printing the video signal on the basis of the number of the scanning lines, wherein a printing range corresponding to the video signal is automatically determined by an output signal of the control circuits.
