  • Patent number: 8789491
Abstract: A cap sheet metal (and pivot sheet metal) is configured to be able to move linearly with a cap arm (and an arm stay) via engagement between an engagement hole and a fitting shaft. Furthermore, the cap sheet metal (and the pivot sheet metal) can move pivotally with respect to the cap arm (and the arm stay) using the fitting shaft, which engages with the engagement hole, as a pivotal shaft. Thus, even if, for example, the direction of biasing toward the applying roller deviates or a positional relationship with the applying roller deviates slightly, the liquid holding member moves and pivots in the bias direction depending on the deviation. As a result, the contacting pressure of a contacting portion on the applying roller can be made uniform.

  • Patent number: 8220411
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid applying apparatus that enables the viscosity of a liquid to be applied and the condition of supply of the liquid to be detected using conventional mechanisms and without the need for a viscometer or the like, thus allowing prevention of improper application of the liquid to a medium and mitigation of wear of an applying roller or the like, the apparatus having an inexpensive configuration. Thus, according to the present invention, a driving load on an applying roller driving motor is detected when an applying roller is driven. If the driving load is equal to or more than a preset threshold, an operation of re-supplying the liquid is performed by a pump, or an operation of the roller driving motor is stopped.

  • Patent number: 8146529
Abstract: There is provided a liquid application apparatus capable of performing stable application without providing a new mechanism, by efficiently removing an application liquid increased in viscosity and fixedly adhered to an abutting portion between an application member and a liquid supplying member. A liquid application apparatus includes an application member that applies a liquid supplied to an applied face to a printing medium by rotating an application roller and a liquid holding member that abuts against the applied face to form a liquid holding space for holding the liquid, and the amount of liquid that is held in the liquid holding space and makes contact with the application member in unit time is larger before an applying operation for applying the liquid to the printing medium than in the applying operation.

  • Patent number: 7192207
Abstract: In both-side recording, wherein the fed recording sheet is conveyed to the recording portion and after the recording is executed on a face side surface, the recording sheet is conveyed to a sheet reversing portion where both sides are reversed, and is sent to the recording portion again where the rear side surface is recorded, a clearance between the recording head and the recording sheet can be changed when recording on the face side or the rear side surface. A first clearance suitable for the recording sheet having a standard thickness and material, and a second clearance greater than the first clearance, can be selected. When there is a possibility that the recording head can come into contact with the recording sheet due to influences from warping and the like, the second clearance is selected, and when there is less possibility of contact, a first clearance is selected.

  • Patent number: 7187901
Abstract: A recording apparatus is capable of reducing the operations to be executed by a user in a case of employing a thick recording sheet for a recording operation, thereby improving the operability of the recording apparatus. A thick sheet guide, which is mountable on the recording apparatus, is capable of assuming a first state for guiding a recording sheet in a case of supply of the recording sheet to a recording portion from a downstream side in a normal conveying direction, and a second state retracted from a conveying path in a case of conveying of the recording sheet in the normal direction. In the recording apparatus, a pinch roller is separated from a sheet conveying roller when a sensor detects that the thick sheet guide is shifted from the second state to the first state.

  • Patent number: 7114867
Abstract: In a recording apparatus including an inversion unit for inverting a recording sheet recorded on a side in a recording unit by conveying along a predetermined path and returning the recording sheet to the recording unit, the possibility of peeling of recording material from the recorded surface or re-deposition of the recording material onto the recording sheet can be reduced. The recording sheet subjected to recording on a side in the recording unit having a recording head is conveyed to the inversion unit, which includes, at a recorded side of the recording sheet, two both-side rollers which are driven and are formed of an elastic material, and, at a non-recorded side, two both-side pinch rollers which are formed of a non-elastic material. The inversion unit conveys the recording sheet along a turnaround path with the recorded side inside, thereby inverting and returning the recording sheet to the recording unit.

  • Patent number: 7063417
Abstract: A recording apparatus capable of preventing a recording medium from contacting a recording unit and causing a jam thereof on conveying is provided. The recording apparatus of the present invention has a paper feed roller placed further upstream in a conveying direction in a normal conveying direction of the recording medium than a record head for recording on recording paper and a sheet inverting portion for inverting the recording paper like a loop and feeding it to the paper feed roller. The recording apparatus is constituted to stand by, for a predetermined time, for the conveying of the recording paper in a state in which a leading end of a backside of the recording paper in the normal conveying direction is in the sheet inverting portion in the process of inverting the recording paper in the sheet inverting portion.

  • Patent number: 6890072
Abstract: There is disclosed an ink jet recording apparatus capable of performing recording on the full surface of a recording sheet without any complication, enlargement or cost increases, and without any need to execute secondary processing after the end of recording. Platen ribs for guiding and supporting the recording sheet are provided in parallel within the ink discharge nozzle row length of a recording head, and each rib constituting one platen rib row is disposed in a position between the adjacent ribs of another platen rib row. When recording is performed on the leading end or the rear end of the recording sheet, recording data is divided into data according to a platen rib array, and one-line recording data is recorded by a plurality of scanning operations.

  • Publication number: 20050058480
Abstract: When a both-side recording is executed by using a recording sheet where a warp has developed, a contact between a recording portion and the recording sheet is prevented, thereby obtaining a stable recording dignity. In both-side recording, wherein the fed recording sheet is conveyed to the recording portion and after the recording is executed on a face side surface, the recording sheet is conveyed to a sheet reversing portion where both sides are reversed, and is sent to the recording portion again where the rear side surface is recorded, a clearance between the recording head and the recording sheet can be changed when recording on the face side surface and when recording on the rear side surface. A first clearance suitable for the recording sheet having a standard thickness and a material, and a second clearance longer than the first clearance, can be arbitrarily selected.
