  • Patent number: 7687646
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel polymorphic form of olopatadine hydrochloride ([(Z)-3-(dimethylamino)propylidene]-6,11-dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-2-acetic acid hydrochloride), a selective histamine H1-receptor antagonist that is used for the treatment of ocular symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. The present invention also provides novel methods for producing olopatadine on a large scale, and in a manner that is cost effective, provides a low level of impurities and eliminates the need to use the costly and dangerous base, butyllithium, which is used in prior art reactions for making olopatadine. The present invention further provides novel processes for carrying out a large scale production of 3-dimethylaminopropyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and its corresponding hydrobromide salt, which are employed in the production of olopatadine, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts of olopatadine.

  • Patent number: 7462145
Abstract: A machine tool is described, in particular a grinding machine, with a tool storage device. The tool storage device contains an outer magazine wheel (34) and an inner magazine wheel (58), which are independently concentrically rotatable in a controlled manner. The outer magazine wheel (34) preferably holds grinding tools (56), while the inner magazine wheel (58) preferably holds grinding wheel protectors (68). The grinding tool (56) and the grinding wheel protector (68) are removed from the tool storage device and are returned to the latter by the tool spindle (30). The grinding tools (56) and grinding wheel protectors (68) can be exchanged independently in arbitrary combinations and possibly also simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20080076825
Abstract: The invention relates to three novel forms of entacapone. These are peripheral and selective COMT inhibitors which in combination with levodopa and decarboxylase inhibitors can be used to treating Parkinson's syndrome. Said novel forms arise by crystallization of entacapone in respectively determined conditions. In certain cases, entacapone can be used as a raw product, in a special case it can be used in situ as the product of Knoevenagel condensation of 3,4-dihydroxy-5-nitro-benzaldehyde and N,N-diethyl-2-cyanoacetamide. Also disclosed are improvements of said condensation in relation to the catalyst and the production of the two components thereof.
