  • Patent number: 8078361
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for assisting an operator of a vehicle in adjusting a nominal steering angle at steerable wheels of the vehicle for the vehicle stabilization. An additional steering torque is applied to the steering line of the vehicle, which is determined dependent on a difference between a nominal steering angle and an instantaneous steering angle. The method is characterized in that a value of a load moment acting on the steering line of the vehicle is estimated, and that the additional steering torque is established dependent on the estimated value for the load moment.

  • Patent number: 7496436
Abstract: In a method and a device for assisting an operator of a vehicle in the vehicle stabilization, an additional steering torque is applied to the steering line of the vehicle. The method manifests itself by the feature that a first component of the additional steering torque is determined depending on a steering angle difference between an instantaneous steering angle at steerable wheels of the vehicle and a nominal steering angle, and the steering angle difference is determined depending on a difference between an instantaneous value of a yaw rate of the vehicle and a value of a reference yaw rate, and with the value of the reference yaw rate being established in a vehicle model by way of a value of at least one variable predefined by the driver. The device implements the method.

  • Publication number: 20080294355
Abstract: A method for calculation of the lateral force in a motor vehicle with an electromechanical or electrohydraulic steering system is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps: firstly a steering column force is recorded, from which a total restoring torque is calculated. The total restoring torque comprises restoring torques generated by differing forces acting on the wheels. Said restoring torques include a restoring torque generated by lateral force and other restoring torques. The other restoring torques are quantitatively determined on the basis of measured values and subtracted from the total restoring torque, in order to determine the restoring torque generated by lateral force. Finally the lateral force is determined from the restoring torque generated by the lateral force.

  • Patent number: 6473681
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for shortening the braking distance of a vehicle equipped with a brake servo unit which during a standard braking action is only triggered by the brake pedal pressure caused by the driver and in case of a critical driving situation is so triggered by a control device that in comparison to the standard braking action an increased amplification factor is set at the brake servo unit. The invention distinguishes itself by the fact that a danger potential is determined, stating the probability that the vehicle to be braked will be involved in an accident and that the increase of the amplification factor is controlled in accordance with the danger potential.
