  • Patent number: 7841460
Abstract: An escalator with an endless formation of successive steps, each having a step surface, a front surface or step-riser and each side, a sideways directed cheek. Provided in the area of each cheek is at least one roller that projects transversely sideways, and is guided along laterally mounted, diagonally running roller-rails of the escalator. On each step in the area of the front surface or step-riser at least one emergency guide hook is fastened in such manner that the emergency guide hook of a higher lying upper first step supports itself against an area of the cheek of the next lower lying second step, should the step be eccentrically loaded in the area of the step-tread.

  • Publication number: 20100282570
Abstract: The step (1) comprises cheeks (5) which are manufactured from deep drawing sheet metal, and a tread element (22) and a deep drawn seating element (24). The arc (BO1) of the seating element (24) follows a first radius (R1) in the upper region and a second radius (R2) in the lower region, wherein the second radius (R2) is somewhat smaller than the first radius (R1). The sheet (BO1) of the seating element (24) merges smoothly at the line (ÜR) from one radius into the other radius. By way of the two radii (R1, R2), the size of the step gap between the tread element (22) and the seating element (24) of the adjacent step is independent of the position of the step gap; the step gap always remains very small, for example smaller than 2.8 mm. As a result, the risk of clothing items, sharp objects, shoes, children's fingers and so on getting jammed is reduced considerably.

  • Publication number: 20100218442
Abstract: The invention relates to a deep-drawing method and a corresponding deep-drawing device. The deep-drawing device has at least two projections (112) and at least two corresponding lamellar gaps (102) in a die (106), the width and positioning (Pi) of the lamellar gaps (102) being adjustable. Folding of a metal sheet (10) is brought about by closing the lamellar gaps (102). During the subsequent deep-drawing process, the projections (112) are lowered into corresponding recesses (103). Flat metal sheets (10) as well as previously corrugated metal sheets (10) can be folded and deep drawn by means of the deep-drawing device and the deep-drawing method.

  • Publication number: 20100206692
Abstract: The escalator step (1) or the travelator plate comprises a step skeleton (2) or a plate skeleton which carries at least one tread element (22). A first cheek (3), a central cheek (4), a second cheek (5), a carrier (6), a bridge (7) and a bracket (8) form the step skeleton (2). For each cheek (3, 4, 5), a sheet metal blank is stamped from a sheet metal strip and is subsequently formed into the cheek by means of deep drawing processes. The carrier (6), bridge (7) and bracket (8) connect the cheeks (3, 4, 5), wherein the components are welded by means of spot welding processes. The carrier (6), bridge (7) and bracket (8) are produced endlessly from sheet metal coil by means of a rolling deformation process and are cut to length depending on the step width.

  • Publication number: 20100018148
Abstract: Method of producing a load-bearing steel construction connection, wherein a clinch connection (13) connecting a first metal workpiece (6.1, 6.2) with a second metal workpiece (6.3, 6.4) is formed by local deformation by means of a die tool (20) and a counter-tool (30). In that case initially the first metal workpiece (6.1, 6.2) and the second metal workpiece (6.3, 6.4) are placed one on the other on a processing surface of the counter-tool and aligned. The die of the die tool is then advanced and sunk into the two metal workpieces (6.1, 6.2; 6.3, 6.4) placed one on the other until the clinch connection (13) has been formed by plastic deformation. The first metal workpiece (6.1, 6.2) has a first workpiece thickness (t1) and the second metal workpiece (6.3, 6.4) has a second workpiece thickness (t2), which together give a total workpiece thickness (tt) which is thicker than 8 millimetres.

  • Patent number: 7431139
Abstract: A compactly constructed guide system has a run surface for guiding the run of the chain rollers. To guide the sides of the steps, a sliding pin arranged on a step rests on a side surface. A counter-surface serves as a counter-guide for the chain rollers and prevents the chain links from being pushed together. By means of an encapsulation, the step rollers, the chain links, and the running surface can be protected from dirt, dust, water, objects, etc. For run guidance of the step roller, a running surface is provided. An oil collecting channel prevents dripping of lubricating oil. The guide system rests on a bracket plate projection and is releasably connected to the bracket plate. The single-piece guide system is simple and efficient to install and can be accurately positioned at the sides against stops.

  • Patent number: 7398869
Abstract: A wheel for driving a flexible handrail of an escalator or moving walk. The wheel can be turned about an axis of rotation and has a readily elastically deformable layer. The readily elastically deformable layer is formed by a body that is stable in form when free of stress. Arranged adjacent to an inner circumferential surface of the readily elastically deformable layer is an inner layer that is stiffer than the readily elastically deformable layer. Adjacent to an outer circumferential surface of the readily elastically deformable layer is an outer layer that is intended to rest against the handrail under static friction. Respective adjacent layers are coupled to each other in non-rotating manner.

  • Patent number: 7296672
Abstract: A wheel for driving a flexible handrail of an escalator or moving walk. The wheel has a power transmission element that can be turned about an axis of rotation and that has, on its circumference a contact surface through which an outwardly acting radial force can be exerted. The wheel also has two base sheaves that are arranged coaxially to the power transmission element. Each base sheave has a plurality of slits that are arranged in the outer edge area of the base sheave and extend toward the axis of rotation. The slits of one base sheave form, with the slits of the other base sheave, slit pairs. The wheel has a circumferential cover with an inside surface against which the contact surface of the power transmission element rests. A plurality of pins is arranged in the circumferential cover, each pin engaging a separate respective slit pair.

  • Patent number: 7243775
Abstract: A handrail for an escalator or moving walk that has a fixed guide device and a handrail body that moves along the guide device when in operation is disclosed. The guide device has a form-giving guide section that contains a lip-guide that extends along a longitudinal direction of the guide section. The handrail body is strip-shaped and has two edge-lips that extend along two longitudinal edges of the strip-shaped handrail body. The edge-lips are formed in such manner that they run parallel to the longitudinal direction when the handrail body moves in the lip guide. The guide section essentially defines the form of the handrail in both the direction parallel to the longitudinal direction and in a cross-sectional plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
