  • Publication number: 20040046370
Abstract: An airbag system for jointly supporting at least two vehicle occupants inside a motor vehicle in case of an accident with at least two separate airbags inflatable with a gas supplied by a gas generator. The airbag system has at least two airbags (14, 15) folded into a common housing (10) to be arranged in the dashboard of the motor vehicle. The airbags are connected to a common gas generator (11) having at least two outflow areas (13, 18, 19) assigned to the at least two airbags (14, 15). Each airbag (14, 15) is sealed by a deflector (16, 17) inserted therein against the respectively other airbag (14, 15), and the airbags are fixed inside the housing (10).

  • Publication number: 20030141704
Abstract: An airbag module with a gas generator, a gas bag, a housing containing an exit opening for the deploying gas bag, and a holder. The gas generator and holder are located inside the gas bag, and the gas generator is fixed to the housing. The holder (19) has a support area (20) and at least one deflector segment (21, 22) directed toward the exit opening (13). The holder is placed between the gas generator (14) and the housing (10). The deflector segment at least partially surrounds the gas generator (14) and directs the gas generated by the gas generator (14) into at least one of a plurality of fold packets (16, 17, 18) of the gas bag (15) placed on both sides of the deflector segment (21, 22).

  • Patent number: 6422592
Abstract: A passenger seat air bag module for supporting and deploying an air bag at a location relative to the instrument panel of a vehicle is provided, which includes a housing, an air bag sack, a gas generator for generating gas for inflating the air bag sack, and a cover element for covering a deployment opening through which the air bag sack is moved when it is deployed. To withdraw the cover element, a drive mechanism applies a pulling force to the cover element via a pulling force transmitting element. The drive mechanism includes a drive block having a plurality of paired cylinder bores and associated drive pistons and a push bar driven outwardly by the drive pistons. The outward movement of the push bar effects withdrawal of the cover element from its deployment opening covering position to its withdrawn position by the pulling force transmitting element.

  • Patent number: 6361070
Abstract: For opening a closure disc arranged on a pressurized container for activating a vehicle occupant restraint system, the surface area of the closure disc is locally exposed to an arc discharge between an electrode and the closure disc. By means of an electrical insulation a linear zone of interaction is delimited between the electrode and the surface area of the closure disc. The arc discharge is initiated in a punctiform manner and then continued over the length of the linear zone of interaction, the closure disc thereby being perforated along the linear zone of interaction by the arc discharge. Due to the effect of the internal pressure of the pressurized container and starting from the two ends of the weakened zone of interaction, a strip of material is then peeled and bulged open from the closure disc in a direction transverse to the linear zone of interaction.

  • Patent number: 6213681
Abstract: A soil compacting device has a damping system which couples an upper mass and a lower mass together with a spring system in a vibration system. The damping properties of the damping system can be modified while the device is in operation. Therefore, when the soil compacting device passes over soils having different properties, it can constantly be adjusted in an optimal manner to the ground underneath it by acting on the vibration properties of the overall vibration system.

  • Patent number: 5818135
Abstract: A vibration generator for generating directed vibrations in a compacting device includes a housing and a first and second flyweight shafts rotatably supported in the housing and extending parallel at a distance to one another. The flyweight shafts have a respective flyweight connected thereto. A first and second intermediate shafts are rotatably supported in the housing and extend parallel to and between the first and second flyweight shafts. Gear wheels positive-lockingly connect the first and second intermediate shafts to one another, the first intermediate shaft to the first flyweight shaft, and the second intermediate shaft to the second flyweight shaft. In this manner, the first intermediate shaft and the first flyweight shaft, respectively, the second intermediate shaft and the second flyweight shaft rotate in opposite directions. One of the intermediate shafts has connected thereto two gear wheels, with one being coupled to the first flyweight shaft and another coupled to the second flyweight shaft.

  • Patent number: 5473744
Abstract: A computer-assisted method for presenting a multi-media plurality of elements. Each element, including, for example, video images, still images and documents, is stored by assigned index number in an appropriate input device such as a VHS recorder or laser disk reader (video and stills) or an optical or magnetic disk reader (documents). The input devices are addressed by such index numbers to thereby call up and display selected elements in a WINDOWS format. The format is adjustable from a basic default setting to enable the user to customize frames prior to entry into a script buffer. Thereafter the script buffer is addressable, permitting the frames constituting the presentation to be entered into a script file in a preferred presentation sequence. The presentation is made by addressing the script file to recall selected frames. The method allows the user to preview frames one at a time and allows the user to reformat each frame prior to public display.
