  • Publication number: 20110008040
Abstract: A method for diagnosing an optical communication network having a control system, an optical hub, and multiple optical network terminators. The hub communicates with all the network terminators via an inband management channel. In case one network terminator disturbs the communication from the network terminators to the hub and the communication from the hub to the network terminators is functional, the control system sends a shut-off command to one network terminator, checks if the disturbance is gone, if the disturbance is not gone, sends a pulse mode activation command to this network terminator, checks if there is a superposition signal of the disturbance signal with a pulse mode signal and marks the network terminator as bad, if the pulse signal is not superimposed.

  • Patent number: 7430172
Abstract: The packet-oriented communications facility comprises at least one token-bucket unit, which comprises a time-bucket unit and of a byte-credit unit. Data volume tokens, which each represent a predetermined data volume, are stored in the byte-credit unit. A token generation time interval and a token generation time are assigned to the time-bucket unit. In addition, a processing time is assigned to each data packet before the subsequent processing. In the time-bucket unit, the transmission time interval available for the subsequent processing of a data packet is determined, and a portion of the available transmission time interval is converted into data volume tokens solely in the event that the token generation time interval is exceeded by the determined available transmission time interval. The generated data volume tokens are stored in the byte-credit unit, and the token generation time is updated.

  • Publication number: 20030076823
Abstract: The invention relates to a nonblocking switching network, comprising a plurality of input/output terminals (LI0 to LI15) for connecting a plurality of line terminator groups (LTG) for a plurality of data channels (BO) to be switched; and a time/space switching network (ZRKN). An input/output stage has a concentrator network (KN) with a concentrator/demultiplexer device (KT) which condenses/divides the plurality of data channels (BO) to be switched in the switching network. Said time/space switching network (ZRKN) consists of at least one n/n switching matrix (KM). This results in a 100% nonblocking switching network which is flexible and can be expanded modularly.
