  • Patent number: 10638522
Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to configuring an access point in a local network for operation in a community Wi-Fi network. The community Wi-Fi network includes access points in differing local networks that share respective network bandwidth capacities with member computing devices of the community Wi-Fi network. A request to join the access point to the community Wi-Fi network is transmitted from the access point to a community aggregation system. Responsive to the request, the community aggregation system transmits a firmware update to the access point. The access point installs the firmware update in memory of the access point. Moreover, responsive to installation of the firmware update, the access point can share network bandwidth capacity with the member computing devices of the community Wi-Fi network. Further, the community aggregation system supports transparent handoffs between access points in to the community Wi-Fi network.

  • Patent number: 10551405
Abstract: A method for determining a flow speed of a liquid in a fluid conduit is provided. During a signal-generating phase, an impulse signal is applied to a first ultrasonic transducer. A response signal is then received at a second ultrasonic transducer. A measuring signal is later derived from the response signal, wherein the derivation comprises reversing a signal portion with respect to time. During a measurement phase, a liquid moves with respect to the fluid conduit. The measuring signal is then applied to one of the two transducers and a response signal of the measuring signal is measured at the other transducer. A flow speed is derived from the response signal of the measuring signal.

  • Patent number: 10461579
Abstract: A method monitors an operating state of an energy supply network. Measurement values indicating an operating state are detected using sensors which are provided at measurement points paired with primary components of the energy supply network, and a visualization indicating the operating state of the energy supply network at each measurement point is generated using a monitor. The aim is to minimize the configuration and parameterization complexity for the operator of the energy supply network. The measurement values are transmitted from the sensors to an application server. The measurement values are analyzed, thereby forming system status values, the system status values indicating the operating state of the energy supply network at the measurement points. The system status values are transmitted to the monitoring device and a visualization which indicates the operating state of the energy supply network is generated by the monitoring device using the system status values and displayed.

  • Publication number: 20190305342
Abstract: A hydrogen fuel cell vehicle system and method inhibit formation of black ice on road surfaces at low temperatures as a result of exhaust water by treating the exhaust water prior to discharge with a deicing or antifreeze substance to lower the freezing point of the water. A metering device may meter a deicing or antifreeze substance, such as sodium chloride, calcium chloride, urea, or the like to be dissolved in the exhaust water that is produced during the production of energy. The vehicle may include a bypass valve that selectively bypasses the water treatment system when ambient conditions are not conducive to ice formation. The bypass valve is operated to direct exhaust flow to a condenser and water treatment system when ambient conditions are favorable to ice formation, with the deicing or antifreeze substance metered based on current or predicted ambient or road surface conditions.

  • Publication number: 20190288508
Abstract: For providing system services reliably for an energy supply network, measured values indicating an electrical state of the supply network and/or of a distribution network are recorded. A deviation of the operational state of the supply network from a required operational state is determined and control measures are defined for restoring the required operational state. Control data which indicate a part of the control measures to be carried out by devices of the distribution network are transmitted to the control device, and control commands are determined for the devices of the distribution network with which the devices are controlled such that the distribution network carries out the required control measures. Estimated control data are defined and the communication connection to a network controller is monitored. In the event of a fault in the communication connection, the control commands are defined using the estimated control data instead of the control data.

  • Patent number: 10397310
Abstract: A method evaluates power engineering data using a data request that is transmitted to a coupling device by a first communication link. The coupling device is used to convert the data request from a coupling data format into a further data request that is specific to an energy engineering device in a device-specific data format. The further data request is transmitted to the power engineering device by a second communication link. The power engineering device transmits its power engineering data, requested by the further data request, to the coupling device by the second communication link. The power engineering data are in a data format that is specific to the power engineering device, and the coupling device converts all the power engineering data requested by further data requests into a data response in the coupling data format and uses the first communication link to transmit them to the evaluation device.
