  • Patent number: 9668242
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sending Network Aware data between a node in a radio network and a node in a service network. A first node generates a Protocol Data Unit, the Protocol Data Unit comprising Network Aware data. The Protocol Data Unit is then sent towards a second node using a transport bearer. This has the advantage that the second node is made aware of the Network Aware data and can, if necessary, adjust its behavior accordingly.

  • Patent number: 9661537
Abstract: Method and arrangement in a network control node, for performing access control of a mobile node in a handover from a source cell to a target subscriber group cell. The method comprises obtaining a network based allowed subscriber group list, receiving a target subscriber group identification, checking if the target subscriber group identification is comprised in the obtained network based allowed subscriber group list. If it is, information from a target network control node is obtained, verifying that the received subscriber group identification corresponds to the target subscriber group cell. Still further, the method comprises granting the mobile node access to the target subscriber group cell. Also, a method and arrangement in a target network control node, for assisting a network control node in performing access control for a mobile node in a handover from a source cell to a target subscriber group cell is provided.

  • Patent number: 9622107
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling data between a radio network and a service network, the data comprising Network Aware data. A gateway node in a mobile core network receives a message from the radio network. It then determines whether the message comprises Network Aware data. If it does, then the message is routed to a Packet Data Network Gateway node configured to handle Network Aware data. If it doesn't, then the message is routed to a Packet Data Network Gateway node for message handling. This ensures that non-Network Aware data is handled using regular message handling, and Network Aware data is handled by nodes configured to handle Network Aware data.

  • Patent number: 9549389
Abstract: A method for forwarding a page message to a communication device includes receiving a page message and a list of Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) Identities in conjunction therewith. Each of the CSG Identities is indicative of which radio base stations among said plurality of radio base stations the communication device is allowed to access. The method also includes selecting, based on the list of CSG Identities received in conjunction with the received page message, a subset of radio base stations among said plurality of radio base stations and forwarding the page message to each radio base station in the selected subset of radio base stations, whereby the communication device is paged only via radio base stations that the communication device is allowed to access.

  • Publication number: 20170012891
Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting service delivery of data in a communication network. A mobile device sends, to an interaction device, information relating to a service and requests information relating to a RAN to which the mobile device is attached. It receives the requested information from a remote device and uses the received information to establish a required service delivery parameter relating to delivery of the service from a server to the mobile device. It sends towards the server a request for data, the request including the established service delivery parameter, and receives from the server data sent using the service delivery parameter.

  • Publication number: 20160380898
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) window size for data sent from a TCP sending node via a mobile network. The TCP sending node receives a TCP request message from a remote node requesting a TCP data stream. The TCP request message includes a parameter relating to conditions in the mobile network and/or the presence of a TCP proxy node. The TCP sending node uses the parameter to determine an initial permissible window size for a TCP slow start mechanism. It can then send a TCP data stream towards a TCP receiving node using the slow start mechanism starting with the initial permissible window size. This allows the slow start phase to start with a higher initial window size.

  • Patent number: 9526034
Abstract: The present invention provides a device and a method for logging information. The device implementing the invention is operable to attach to a first node and a second node, at least one of the first node and the second node operates within a WLAN and the other of the first node and the second node operates within a WLAN or a 3rd Generation Partnership Project, 3GPP, network. The device includes a memory and a processor. The memory includes a log, the log configured to receive at least one entry comprising an identifier for the first node and a time stamp indicating the time that the device attached to the first node. The processor acts to cause an entry to be added to the log to indicate whether an attempt by the device to attach to a second node has been successful or unsuccessful.

  • Patent number: 9479977
Abstract: A method, User Equipment (UE), and first base station serving a first cell for performing an access request by the UE for operatively connecting the UE to a second cell. The UE obtains radio quality parameters indicating quality of radio reception between the UE and the first and second cells. Based on the obtained radio quality parameters, it is determined whether the UE is in a link imbalance zone where the UE has an option to be connected to both the first cell and the second cell. If so, the UE sends access request information, to the first base station and indicates availability of the UE to be redirected to the second cell. The first base station may redirect the UE to the second cell when a load of the first cell meets pre-defined load criteria.

  • Publication number: 20160294714
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a TCP congestion window size for data sent from a TCP sending node in a communications network towards a TCP receiving node via a Radio Access Network. The TCP sending node determines a minimum required bit rate for a data stream sent towards the TCP receiving node. It then determines that a sending bit rate of the data stream must be reduced using a TCP congestion avoidance mechanism. When the congestion avoidance mechanism is applied, the congestion window size is adjusted such that the sending bit rate is no lower than the minimum required bit rate.

  • Patent number: 9357400
Abstract: A method and a radio node (RN) shared by operators of separate cellular networks having operator specific tracking area plans. The radio node (RN) broadcasts (1:1) system information with network identities of the cellular networks (PLMN IDs) and multiple operator specific tracking area codes (TACs) valid in respective tracking area plans of the cellular networks, each tracking area code being associated with a corresponding network identity in the system information. Thereby, the operators are enabled to use their own operator specific tracking area codes for their respective operator specific tracking areas that include a cell (100) covered by the radio node.

  • Publication number: 20160127891
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying a User Equipment (UE) in a communication network. A service aware control signalling node associated with a transmission path related to the UE receives a first message sent from a Radio Access Network (RAN) node associated with the UE on the transmission path. The first message initiates a communication between the RAN node and the control signalling node and includes an identity of the UE. On its own, the identity of the UE is not enough to unambiguously identify the UE, as described above. The control signalling node stores at a database an identity of the UE and an identity of the transmission path via which the first message was sent. The combination of the UE identity and the transmission path identity can be used to uniquely identify the UE.

  • Publication number: 20160094977
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating with a radio network control node in a communication network. A core network control node receives a first message from a further node. The first message identifies a User Equipment (UE) connected with the radio network control node. The core network control node determines whether an established connection relating to the UE exists between the core network control node and the radio network control node. If not then the first message is forwarded to the radio network control node using the established connection, a first response message is received from the radio network control node and forwarded to the further node. If the established connection does not exist, a second response message is sent to the further node informing the further node that the UE is not connected with the radio network control node.
